Eker and TED Bursa College Launch Project for Children with Hemophilia

A joint project by Eker and TED Bursa Koleji students contributed to a sustainable future while bringing smiles to children with hemophilia. Under the project scope, waste battery collection stations were installed at Eker Meydan in Bursa. In exchange for the 75 kg of collected batteries, 750 fruit kefir packages were handed over to the Bursa Hemophilia Association for distribution to children with hemophilia. The "Sustainable Development Goals" or "Global Goals," adopted by 193 UN member states to be achieved by the end of 2030, inspired TED Bursa Koleji students to contribute to this process. Students forming a volunteer group called "Collect For Future" are working to draw attention to the 17 global goals, raise awareness, and help spread a socially conscious global movement. "Collect For Future" volunteers recently launched a "waste battery collection project" in line with 17 global goals including "Good Health and Well-Being," "Responsible Consumption and Production," "Climate Action," and "Partnerships for the Goals." With support from Eker, which makes it a principle to benefit society through corporate social responsibility initiatives, the project contributed to environmental cleanup and a sustainable future while creating an opportunity for solidarity with children with hemophilia.

750 fruit kefir donated in exchange for 75 kg of waste batteries

Waste battery collection stations were installed at Eker Meydan in Bursa for the project. Every 1 kg of collected waste batteries was converted into 10 fruit kefir packages for children with hemophilia. The 750 fruit kefir packages corresponding to the 75 kg of collected batteries were handed over to the Bursa Hemophilia Association for distribution to children with hemophilia. Thanks to this exemplary project bringing together the business world and students, waste batteries were removed from nature while meeting the healthy and delicious kefir needs of children with hemophilia. "Collect For Future" volunteers aim to represent both their school and Turkey by participating in the Global Social Leader Competition, funded by the Future Foundation, which brings together young people aiming to create social change on a global scale. "Collect For Future" was selected for the semi-finals of this competition last year among hundreds of projects and received the "Impact" award. Eker Dairy Products will continue to support the "Collect For Future" initiative and various projects with the aim of benefiting nature and society.
