Eczacıbaşı Publishes Sustainability Report

The Group, which declared 2022 a mobilization year in the field of sustainability and continued to increase its achievements with the understanding of creating sustainable value for all stakeholders, presented its sustainability performance to its stakeholders through its report published for the 14th time. Eczacıbaşı Group reduced energy consumption per ton of product by 3.5% and water usage by 10.8% in production in 2021. The Group advanced on gender equality targets, raising the proportion of women in hiring to 46.3%. The Group declared 2022 a mobilization year in sustainability.

We continued implementing WEF Stakeholder Capitalism Metrics

The report was prepared in accordance with the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) and World Economic Forum (WEF) Stakeholder Capitalism Metrics. Atalay Gümrah, CEO of Eczacıbaşı Group, stated: "In our 2021 Group Sustainability Report, we continued implementing the WEF Stakeholder Capitalism Metrics that we began last year."

Proportion of women employees increased

During the reporting period, the COVID-19 pandemic, which continued to have its impact, once again demonstrated the importance of ESG for creating sustainable value in business. Through its activities during this period, Eczacıbaşı Group succeeded in reducing energy consumption per ton of product and greenhouse gas emissions in production by 3.5% and 4.7% respectively compared to the previous year; and water usage per ton of product in production by 10.8%. Improvements were achieved within the scope of equal opportunity and women's employment development targets, which are among the Group's most important focus areas under ESG. As of end of 2021, compared to 2016 when the targets were defined, the proportion of women in hiring increased from 41% to 46.3%, the overall proportion of women employees increased from 33% to 36.3%, and the proportion of women in management increased from 27% to 32.2%.

We are part of the transition to a low-carbon economy

Atalay Gümrah, who emphasizes management decisions based on responsible resource use in management approach and designed for the future of business, society and the world, continued as follows: "We know that we are part of the effort to transition to a low-carbon economy to limit global warming to 1.5°C. We view 2022 as a mobilization year within the scope of sustainability. We believe that by acting responsibly both in our roles within institutions and in our individual consumption habits, we can contribute to achieving this target. In our Group, we are monitoring developing technologies for emission reduction. We are rapidly adapting existing low-carbon technologies. In our production facilities, we are accelerating our renewable energy investments, particularly solar, for self-consumption."
