ECCO Saves 25 Million Liters of Water Annually
The Earth Hour movement initiated by WWF was implemented this past weekend. Within the scope of the movement, unnecessary lights worldwide were turned off to contribute to environmental protection. ECCO, one of the world's largest leather brands, announced its participation in this initiative and turned off all unnecessary lights. In its statement, ECCO noted that it has transitioned toward water-free leather production with its developed DriTan technology. According to figures from the World Health Organization, the brand saves more than 25 million liters of water annually through this technology, thereby meeting the water needs of approximately 9,000 people. Thanks to DriTan technology, approximately 20 liters of water are saved per hide, and this technology also minimizes chemical use.DriTan Technology: The First Step Toward Water-Free Leather Production
ECCO operates one of the world's most advanced research and development facilities, where DriTan technology is being developed. Research conducted at this facility has resulted in methods to utilize the moisture released by hides, with continuous improvements being made. Through these efforts, ECCO aims to reinvent one of the world's oldest industries. The facility considers DriTan technology the first step toward making the entire leather production process water-free. SourceAdvertisement
