Dalmaçyalı Becomes Low-Carbon Champion

Dalmaçyalı Recognized as Low Carbon Hero Dalmaçyalı, which has introduced exterior facade thermal insulation providing energy savings of up to 60 percent to over 2.5 million residential units in Turkey, has been awarded the Low Carbon Heroes award at the 8th Istanbul Carbon Summit. According to calculations by Betek General Manager Tayfun Küçükoğlu, the thermal insulation applications of the Dalmaçyalı brand have prevented approximately 32 million tons of carbon dioxide equivalent greenhouse gas emissions. At the 8th Istanbul Carbon Summit, organized to manage carbon, reduce greenhouse gas emissions and promote climate-resilient production, Dalmaçyalı, the leading brand in thermal insulation, was selected as a Low Carbon Hero. The Low Carbon Heroes Award is presented annually by the Sustainable Production and Consumption Association to organizations that contribute to the development of sustainable living by creating impact on increasing our country's carbon management capacity through social and technical applications for low carbon footprint in manufacturing, production and products. Betek General Manager Tayfun Küçükoğlu expressed satisfaction that Dalmaçyalı received this award, noting that since 2003 they have implemented thermal insulation in over 2.5 million residential units with Dalmaçyalı. Tayfun Küçükoğlu stated: "We take pride and joy in preventing approximately 32 million tons of carbon dioxide equivalent greenhouse gas emissions through exterior facade thermal insulation applications that provide energy savings in heating and cooling."

Speaking at the Carbon Summit organized by the Ministry of Environment and Urbanization, Istanbul Technical University and the Sustainable Production and Consumption Association, Küçükoğlu provided the following information: "Global warming and climate change are defined by scientists, country governments, international institutions, in short by all authorities, as our world's most important shared problem. We must prevent further warming of our world. We need to reduce the proportion of greenhouse gases, primarily carbon, that cause the greenhouse effect and lead to this warming in the atmosphere. This is only possible by consuming less energy. Fossil fuels, which are widely used, are the primary source of carbon emissions. Fortunately, our country is contributing to international agreements and regulations on reaching a carbon-neutral world. As an industry, we have embraced sustainability."

Noting that combating global warming and climate change is leading to changes in urban planning and architecture, Küçükoğlu said: "The buildings of the future must be green buildings, and we see that steps are being taken in this direction today and the industry is developing itself in this direction. Through thermal insulation offering savings of up to 60 percent and with our innovative solutions based on environmental and human health across all our products, we want to create a positive impact on the future of the world." he said. Sharing details of energy consumption in buildings, Tayfun Küçükoğlu provided the following information: "In Turkey, 31 percent of energy consumption, in other words one-third, is consumed in residential buildings. Of this consumption, 80 percent is spent on heating and cooling. Therefore, the energy savings we will achieve through thermal insulation makes our planet cleaner and healthier, while also providing an important solution in the climate crisis."
