Clariant has reinforced its ongoing partnership with the World Foundry Organization to support environmentally friendly metal casting applications. As a Lifetime Heritage Sponsor for seven years, Clariant announced it will continue its collaboration with the World Foundry Organization (WFO) to provide access to knowledge that will help reduce carbon emissions.   Additionally, Clariant announced it will continue working with WFO to help the sectors in which it operates overcome difficulties in productivity and meet sustainability expectations. In a statement regarding the strengthened partnership, WFO General Secretary Andrew Turner said, "Thanks to the contributions of Clariant and our other lifetime heritage sponsors, we strategically plan and develop our future conferences. This allows us to stay ahead of the knowledge curve and present developing technologies and innovations in our sector to all our stakeholders at major global events and in the Global Casting Industry Report." Lorenzo Sechi, Head of the Casting and Functional Additives Department for Clariant Europe, Middle East and Africa, outlined the objectives of the strengthened partnership as follows: "The collaborations we conduct in the process of enabling foundries to adapt green sand casting to their current and future needs have always been of great importance to us. In this regard, we view WFO as an important partner in conveying unique insights and informing a wide audience about emerging trends that will make foundries future-proof while increasing productivity and reducing environmental impact. These priorities, which form the essence of our technologies, support foundries in successfully reducing casting emissions, improving working conditions and ecological footprint, as well as efficiently providing castings with superior precision and surface quality that are in demand today." It was noted that with Clariant's new Low Emission+ Technology (LE+ Technology) developed for green sand casting, BTEX (benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene, xylene) emissions are significantly reduced while delivering castings with superior surface quality. Clariant experts pointed out that with this sustainable solution developed, consumption of clay and additives as well as waste generation are reduced, and as a result, striking results have been achieved in reducing total cost of ownership in European foundries. Experts announced they will continue sharing data, research and technical support to advance the use of green sand casting systems in metal casting production for automotive, infrastructure and construction applications worldwide.
