'Environmental and Energy Technologies Competition' Concludes

SANKO Holding, a main partner of TEKNOFEST, led the 'Environment and Energy Technologies Competition' where teams placing in the top three at 'Secondary School' and 'University and Above' levels were awarded. The awards ceremony for TEKNOFEST 2022, the world's largest Aviation, Space and Technology Festival, took place at Samsun Çarşamba Airport with the participation of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan. Gaziantep Governor Davut Gül, Gaziantep Member of Parliament Nejat Koçer, Gaziantep Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Fatma Şahin and SANKO Holding Chairman of the Board Adil Sani Konukoğlu also attended the TEKNOFEST awards ceremony.  

Award-Winning Projects at Secondary School Level

The 'environment-friendly weight for recreational fishermen' project, developed by 12th-grade students Ada Demir and Zeren Kaynak from İzmir Özel Eraslan Anadolu Lisesi under the guidance of supervising teacher Muhammet Çoruh, was awarded first place at the secondary school level. 11th-grade student Ilgın Ceyhan and 12th-grade student Göktuğ Sipahi from Özel İzmir Atatürk Organize Sanayi Bölgesi Nedim Uysal Mesleki Teknik ve Anadolu Lisesi, under the guidance of supervising teacher Serkan Gül, achieved second place in the Environment and Energy Technologies Competition with their 'Wastematic' project, which automatically separates plastic, glass and metal waste for recycling. 12th-grade students Bakican Zeybek and Taha Mert Aslan from İzmir Necla Teyfik Karadavut Mesleki ve Teknik Anadolu Lisesi, under the guidance of supervising teacher İsmet Aslan, completed the competition in third place with their project on 'printing electronic circuit boards with natural organic carbon ink on 3D printers, natural carbon ink production and designing printed circuit (PCB) cards with carbon ink instead of copper'.

Award-Winning Projects at University and Above Level

Fatih Mehmet Günaydın, Science Teacher at SANKO Schools, achieved first place in Turkey at the University and Above level of the Environment and Energy Technologies Competition with his project on 'wastewater treatment from textile waste using pectin-based hydrogels'. Ömer Kara, graduate of Ship Machinery Operations Engineering at Istanbul Technical University, Rabia Adanur, student of Maritime Transportation and Operations Engineering at Istanbul Technical University, Yusuf Talha Kalender, student of Maritime Transportation and Operations Engineering, Yüksel Kiye, student of Mechanical Engineering, İlknur Toklu, graduate of Biotechnology Engineering at Beykent University, Enes Karaoğlu, graduate of Industrial Engineering at Haliç University, and Esra Nur Bolat, graduate of Software Engineering at Beykent University, achieved second place at the university and above level with their 'vibtech' project, which converts irregular vibration energy from waste into electrical energy through piezoelectric material using vibration technology. Shaghayegh Saeidiharzand and Dr. Abdoali Sadaghiani, who came to Turkey for education and are continuing their studies at Sabancı University from Iran, won third place at the university and above level with their 'icing prevention project for wind turbines'.  

Team awards for the top three in secondary school and university categories were as follows:

In the 'University and Above Category', the first-place team received TRY 15,000, the second-place team TRY 10,000 and the third-place team TRY 5,000, while in the 'Secondary School Category' the prizes were TRY 12,000, TRY 7,000 and TRY 4,000 respectively. Additionally, the first-place teams in both categories were awarded plaques in recognition of the best presentation award.
