First report compliant with TSRS
The company also presented to the public its first sustainability report compliant with Turkey Sustainability Reporting Standards (TSRS) this year. The report shared priority climate risks, the financial impacts of these risks and targets and performance indicators aimed at optimizing these impacts.
Stakeholder and impact-focused strategy
Through the "double materiality analysis" conducted in 2024, Besler reshaped its sustainability strategy encompassing environmental, social and financial impacts. As a result of this analysis, strategic targets were set around high-priority issues and the company's resilience was strengthened throughout the value chain.
Projects for the future of food
Besler carried out innovative projects in the areas of food loss and waste, resource efficiency, food safety and sustainable raw material procurement.
Through the "Farm to Table Zero Food Loss" project, waste from harvest to consumption was prevented, and domestic production was encouraged through contractual farming support.
Thanks to drip irrigation incentives in sweet corn cultivation, a yield increase of TRY 31 million, water savings of 4.1 million tons, energy savings of 2 million kWh and financial gains of TRY 6 million were achieved.
Through the Women Stars of Agriculture project, the share of women farmers reached 30%; women farmers received training in numerous areas from financial literacy to artificial intelligence.
In 2024, 14 energy efficiency projects were implemented with investments exceeding TRY 9 million.
Agriculture's transformation through technology and innovation
Through the SAFER (Smart Agriculture Fields in the Europe Region) project carried out by Besler in cooperation with the European Union and TUBITAK, early warning systems based on drones, sensors and artificial intelligence were used in potato production.
Thanks to this system:
Product quality increased by 25%,
Productivity increased by 17%, while
Resource use decreased by 40%.
Besler CEO Mert Altınkılınç noted the following:
"We are working together with all our stakeholders to increase the resilience of food systems at every stage of our value chain from farm to table. While systematically reducing our environmental impact in areas such as energy efficiency, packaging optimization and waste management, we are transforming diversity and inclusivity into a lasting culture. In a vital sector like food, we approach sustainability with a holistic perspective and aim to transform together without leaving any stakeholder behind."
