BASF Offers Sustainable Plastic Solutions Plastics are an important part of modern life. At the same time, they have become one of the most discussed topics. The public is debating how and why plastics are used more than ever before. BASF has set itself the goal, together with its customers and partners, to contribute to a circular economy where raw materials are conserved, plastic waste is reduced, and materials can develop their full potential during use.

High-Performance Material Solutions for eMobility

Alternative drives, electromobility and CO₂ emission reduction are important topics in the automotive industry. Many solutions demonstrate the potential of BASF's versatile engineering plastics and polyurethanes. There are a wide range of innovative eMobility applications, from high-voltage connectors and bus holders to electromagnetically shielded housings. Additionally, engine and transmission isolators are being offered that provide cost savings in production and contribute to optimized acoustic experiences through improved processing methods. Tunnel reinforcement, a joint project with Stellantis and L&L Products, recently won the Altair Enlighten Award due to weight savings. For the first time, BASF is introducing a new flame-retardant Ultramid® grade (PA66) with color stability that expands its portfolio of custom engineering plastics for use in electric vehicles. The newly developed material innovatively combines color stability (available in orange RAL 2003) and mechanical strength. This allows it to meet the technical requirements demanded by the market.
