Banvit MBRF Recovers 44% of Wastewater

Banvit MBRF, one of Turkey's leading white meat producers, recycles thousands of tonnes of wastewater annually and returns it to use. Through its Wastewater Recovery Facility in Bandırma, the company recovered 44% of treated water in drinking water quality in 2025, supporting the protection of groundwater resources.

On the occasion of World Water Day on 22 March, Banvit MBRF shared its work on water conservation and reiterated its commitment to reducing its water footprint. Tolga Gündüz, Chief Executive Officer of Banvit MBRF, stated that the company has placed sustainability at the centre of its corporate culture and commented: "This awareness forms the foundation of all our processes, from production to operations. By the end of 2025, we have succeeded in recovering 44% of the treated water at our Bandırma facility in drinking water quality."

Gündüz noted that this achievement is an important result of the sustainability approach that sits at the heart of operational processes and stated that the company views this step not merely as an increase in efficiency but also as a critical milestone in its "Net Zero" journey.

Banvit MBRF recovers a portion of treated water in drinking water quality by subjecting it to a second treatment process at varying ratios depending on total water consumption. The company views these efforts as concrete evidence of its commitment to contributing to the protection of natural resources in line with global sustainability goals and leaving a more habitable world for future generations.

Banvit began operations in 1968 as a compound feed producer. Transitioning to poultry meat production on a phased basis from 1984, the company became the first in Turkey to produce cleaned and packaged fresh poultry. Since 2001, Banvit has also manufactured convenience foods such as nuggets, schnitzel, meatballs and kebab, as well as deli products including soudjouk, salami and sausage. 91.71% of Banvit shares are held by TBQ Foods GmbH. Banvit has been traded on Borsa Istanbul since 1992.
