Project Awarded Support to Meet Automotive Sector's Antibacterial Rubber Demand
A student from the Chemical Engineering Department at Pamukkale University has been awarded support for a project aimed at meeting the automotive sector's demand for antibacterial rubber. The project prepared by Chemical Engineering Department student Oğuzhan Nalbant under the "Industry-Oriented Undergraduate Research Projects Support" programme has been awarded funding. The project titled "Imparting Antibacterial Properties to Rubber Products through the Use of Silver Nanoparticles Obtained via Green Synthesis in the Automotive Sector and Improving Physico-Mechanical Properties," prepared under the academic supervision of Dr. Deniz Akın Şahbaz, Faculty of Engineering, Department of Chemical Engineering, and industrial supervision of İsmail Yılmaz Aktekin, rubber factory manager, will receive support."Innovative, Environmentally Friendly Rubber Products with Antibacterial Properties to Be Developed"
The project titled "Imparting Antibacterial Properties to Rubber Products through the Use of Silver Nanoparticles Obtained via Green Synthesis in the Automotive Sector and Improving Physico-Mechanical Properties" is aimed at meeting the automotive sector's demand for antibacterial rubber. Project advisor Dr. Deniz Akın Şahbaz outlined the details of the work. Şahbaz stated: "Today, with the emergence of the Covid-19 pandemic, interest in antibacterial products has increased. This work will address the demand that may arise in rubber products used in the automotive sector. Through the use of silver nanoparticles in rubber compound mixtures, the aim is to impart antibacterial properties to rubber products while also improving the physico-mechanical properties of the products. If the project work achieves the desired results, innovative, environmentally friendly rubber products with antibacterial properties will be developed."Advertisement
