Major Investment in İzmir from the Packaging Sector
Major Packaging Investment for İzmir
FİTPAK Ambalaj ve Kimya Sanayi plans to increase its capacity to 54,000 tonnes with a TRY 300 million investment at Menemen Plastik İhtisas Organize Sanayi Bölgesi.
In a statement regarding the facility scheduled to open in the fourth quarter of 2022, FİTPAK Ambalaj Board Chair Dr. Sait Türek said: "FİTPAK Ambalaj ve Kimya Sanayi was established in 2012. With a 10,000 square-metre production facility, FİTPAK manufactures barrier-property packaging for short shelf-life products such as meat, fish and dairy products, as well as for dried, powdered and brined goods.
Our company operates across 10,000 square metres of production area with 150 employees, manufacturing high-barrier films using advanced technology. At our current facility, we operate with annual production capacity of 18,000 tonnes. With the new investment we are making, this figure will reach 54,000 tonnes."
Türek stated that FİTPAK's new production facility will be constructed on a 20,000 square-metre site, with approximately 17,500 square metres of enclosed space. "Today we export to 34 countries across Europe, the United States, the Middle East and Africa. With the new facility, we plan to increase our export targets to EUR 100 million," he said.
FİTPAK Ambalaj Board Chair Dr. Sait Türek underscored the strategic importance of their products in export. Türek continued: "From our first day of operation, we have been producing high-barrier packaging.
Our products are strategically important because they extend shelf life without requiring preservative additives to be added to foodstuffs, prevent waste and product loss due to spoilage, thereby ensuring both public health and facilitating the export of products manufactured in our country to distant markets," he said.
