Akkim to Purify Azerbaijan's Drinking Water

Akkim Kimya won the tender for membrane module replacement at the Ceyranbatan Ultrafiltration Water Treatment Complex in Azerbaijan, which operates the world's largest facility of its kind. The facility provides purification of network water supplied to the Absheron Peninsula, which has a population of 4.6 million and includes the capital Baku and surrounding provinces. Akkim Kimya, the region's sole ultrafiltration producer spanning from Europe to Asia, has won the tender for membrane module replacement at the Ceyranbatan Ultrafiltration Water Treatment Complex in Azerbaijan. The facility on the Absheron Peninsula, which hosts Baku and surrounding cities, purifies network water supplied to approximately 50 percent of Azerbaijan's population. Work initiated under the project is targeted for completion by end of 2022, with the entire system to be replaced using 5,280 Akkim Akualys membrane modules manufactured in Turkey. The facility's most notable feature is its membrane filters capable of removing even viruses from water. Akkim Kimya General Manager Onur Kipri, noting that work began rapidly following the tender award, stated: "Azersu ASC's confidence in Akkim for water supply to a major city like Baku is a source of pride for us. As Turkey and the region's sole producer, we and our teams have rolled up our sleeves and begun installation with dedicated work. The project, scheduled for completion in 2023, will be realized by end of 2022 through the cooperation of Akkim and Azersu." he said. Opened in 2015 with the participation of Azerbaijan President İlham Aliyev, the Ceyranbatan Ultrafiltration Water Treatment Complex employs advanced technology for treatment. Selected by Global Water Summit as one of the world's most important projects, the facility maintains public health at the highest level.
