Ak-Kim Kimya Achieves "Gold" Recognition Level in Sustainability

Ak-Kim adds another achievement to its sustainability track record. The company, assessed by international sustainability platform EcoVadis, has advanced to "Gold" recognition level. Turkey's leading chemical producer Ak-Kim has raised the bar in sustainability performance. Building on its work in this field since 2020, Ak-Kim achieved recognition in the EcoVadis assessment, which includes global sustainability suppliers.

From Silver to Gold

When Ak-Kim participated in the same assessment in 2019, it earned "Silver" recognition level by ranking in the top 22 percent across all categories and top 10 percent in the chemicals sector. In the 2020 assessment, the company raised its performance in categories including environment, labor and human rights, ethics and sustainable procurement to the top 3 percent, successfully converting Silver to Gold. With this achievement, Ak-Kim, operating under the motto "Sustainability is in Our Chemistry," recorded significant progress in the field of sustainability, which grows in importance with each passing year.

What is EcoVadis?

EcoVadis, the international platform assessing sustainable supply chain, comprises 21 criteria. These criteria under headings such as Environment, Social, Ethics and Sustainable Procurement are based on the UN Global Compact, International Labour Organization (ILO) Conventions, Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) Standards, ISO 26000 Social Responsibility Standard, Ceres Environmental Economy Coalition Roadmap and UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights.
