Abdi İbrahim Achieves Major Milestone

Great Pride for Abdi İbrahim Speaking at the 27th Conference of the Parties to the United Nations (UN) Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP 27) held in Sharm El-Sheikh, Egypt, Dr. M. Oğuzcan Bülbül, Director of Corporate Relations, Sustainability and Communications at Abdi İbrahim, provided information on sustainability efforts in the pharmaceutical sector and specifically at Abdi İbrahim. Bülbül stated, "As a company dedicated to improving life for 110 years, we are aware of the responsibility we carry for a healthier society and a more liveable future. Since signing the UN Global Compact in 2010, we have regularly published our progress reports. While sustaining our economic activities, leaving a 'positive' mark on society and the world we live in has always been our priority." Dr. M. Oğuzcan Bülbül, Director of Corporate Relations, Sustainability and Communications at Abdi İbrahim, attended the 27th Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP27) held in Sharm El-Sheikh, Egypt, representing the Turkish pharmaceutical sector and Abdi İbrahim. At the event held between 6-18 November, on 16 November, Dr. M. Oğuzcan Bülbül participated in sessions with TÜSİAD and SKD Turkey (Business and Sustainable Development Association), and was also a guest at a special session the same day, addressing sustainability issues specifically in the pharmaceutical sector and Abdi İbrahim's work in this field. Noting that consumers, particularly the new generation, now want to see brands with a story and purpose-driven focus, Bülbül pointed to the impact of companies' sustainability efforts on purchasing preferences.

We work with a vision to improve our world and future

Emphasizing the great importance of a sustainability-focused perspective in a strategic sector like pharmaceuticals that is directly linked to human health, Dr. M. Oğuzcan Bülbül also provided information on Abdi İbrahim's projects in this field: "With the awareness that human health depends on the health of our planet, we work with the goal of improving our world and future. From supply processes to bringing products to market, we conduct all business operations while considering environmental impact and contributing to the green transition. In all our activities, we implement projects in line with circular economy principles, taking environmental protection, efficient use of natural resources, full compliance with regulations and our environmental policy as the foundation."

Twin transformation-focused projects

Dr. M. Oğuzcan Bülbül made the following statements regarding the topic at the session: "The main motto of our sustainability strategy, which we call HEAL2030 and monitor from an ESG (Environmental, Social, Governance) perspective, is 'Improving the Future'. With emission reduction commitments, our primary environmental target as the first and only Turkish pharmaceutical company approved by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) is to become a carbon-neutral company by 2030. In line with this target, we are conducting projects with leading universities in our country and allocating resources to these projects for using less packaging material in our production processes, developing biodegradable packaging for our consumer health products, reducing production waste and transforming our industry's linear structure into a circular one. As Abdi İbrahim, while adapting to the digital transformation that has gained significant momentum globally with the pandemic, we are also developing models that will reduce our carbon footprint by contributing to our sustainability strategy. We are working towards the realization of the Sustainable Development Goals we focus on with projects aligned with the 'twin transformation' concept, which can be summarized as the simultaneous progress of digital and green transformation. As the leader of the Turkish pharmaceutical sector and a brand dedicated to improving life for 110 years, we will continue our work without slowing down towards the future of our planet."
