New Project from Abdi İbrahim

Abdi İbrahim is launching a new project under the "building scientific awareness among youth" pillar of its HEAL2030 sustainability strategy, which forms part of its community investment programmes. Through the 'Future Discoverers Programme', implemented in partnership with Bilim Virüsü social enterprise—which instils scientific thinking habits and next-generation competencies in children and young people—the aim is for secondary school students to acquire new competencies, develop into courageous and entrepreneurial individuals, and gain familiarity with biotechnology. Through the 'Future Discoverers Programme', implemented in partnership with Bilim Virüsü social enterprise, secondary school students across Turkey are provided with opportunities to develop themselves and build awareness across various fields ranging from biotechnology to climate crisis, from sustainability to scientific thinking, and from coexistence dynamics to 21st century competencies. One of the programme's most significant outcomes will be introducing bright young people studying at Turkey's leading Anatolian and Science High Schools to biotechnology, guiding them towards biotechnology in university education, and laying the groundwork for a skilled workforce in this field. Abdi İbrahim's programme, designed within its biotechnology vision, will not only enrich the education of bright students at secondary level but will also encourage students currently receiving scholarship and mentoring support from the Abdi İbrahim Foundation at undergraduate, master's and doctoral level in biotechnology to continue their studies.

Online training workshops and webinars across 4 separate modules

The 'Future Discoverers Programme', implemented through collaboration between Abdi İbrahim and Bilim Virüsü, takes its name from figures who discovered the future, such as James Hansen, who first articulated the concept of global warming; Marie Curie, who made pioneering research into radioactivity that marked history; Rosa Parks, chosen by Time magazine in 1999 as a 20th century human rights advocate; and Gary Hamel, who laid the foundation for 21st century competencies thinking. Inspired by these figures, carefully prepared educational modules serve as guidelines and are delivered to young people in an online environment by subject matter experts. The programme comprises 4 modules: 21st Century Competencies, Climate and Sustainability, Scientific Thinking, and Coexistence. Biotechnology stands out as a featured topic within the content of each module. Through webinars conducted in the fields of social enterprise and innovation, young people are empowered. Different workshops are organised within the scope of each module, enabling students to develop themselves in these areas, consolidate their knowledge, and acquire competencies suited to the age. Students who complete the modules receive a certificate. It is among the project's objectives for young people to become courageous, entrepreneurial individuals who demonstrate the courage to act following each module.
