Teknopanel's R&D Projects Draw Attention

Teknopanel, founded in Mersin in 2005, continues to lead its sector through projects conducted at its R&D center. Orhan Kahveci, General Director of Teknopanel, stated that the company operates in the sandwich panel and EPS products sector with production facilities in Mersin, Sakarya, İzmir and Istanbul: "We made a significant investment for our sector and activated the first and only R&D center in the industry at our Mersin factory with the certificate we received from the Ministry of Industry and Technology in 2019. In the test, experiment and product development laboratories at our R&D center, we work with our team of professionals with extensive knowledge in the field to provide value-added products to the sector. Our R&D team, which is growing each day, comprises 14 engineers, 12 technicians and 2 support staff. In addition, we conduct joint projects and research with support from esteemed faculty members at universities. Our objective is to increase efficiency and savings in our business processes, and to ensure high quality, sustainability and diversity in our products. We participate in national and international scientific conferences and present our papers. Discussing the R&D work carried out by the company, Kahveci continued: "We place great value on R&D and innovation work and carefully monitor these activities. As a brand, we are aware that we need to produce innovative solutions. Among our work is a project on conferring fire-resistance properties to polyurethane, for which we have completed laboratory work, are conducting industrial trials, and have filed a patent application. We are also developing innovative products such as cable tray panels and flexible sandwich panels as well as products that will create new markets in the sector through product and design work. We are improving and developing production processes to increase efficiency and achieve cost savings. Through our process development projects based on automation and innovation in our sandwich panel production lines, we have designed machinery to enable newly developed products to be used on the lines. Through R&D work conducted on protective film used to prevent scratching, soiling and crushing of the metal outer surfaces of sandwich panels during production, we have developed an innovative measure by reducing film usage by approximately 80%. We are working on environmental awareness projects that enable recycling of production waste to obtain new products and aim to reduce carbon footprint. With the knowledge accumulated through our 22 years of experience, we transfer our expertise by providing scientific mentorship to small and medium-sized enterprises, and we stand behind social responsibility projects."
