Sisdoz Launches Albin Peristaltic Hose Pumps

Peristaltic pump, also known in the sector as a hose pump, can sometimes be referred to by names such as dosing pump or metering pump. Essentially, peristaltic pumps are a type of positive displacement pump. These pumps have the ability to pump many different liquids. On the other hand, they can be used safely in many applications ranging from chemical transfer to wastewater treatment. Peristaltic pumps, which have a unique design and are functionally preferred, are characterized by a drive system and cylinders in their operating mechanism. As the cylinders rotate, a vacuum is created in a system where the flexible hose is compressed. The flexible hose is the only component in contact with the fluid during this process. Therefore, this situation provides serious operational advantages. It is also possible to mention fixed-speed pumps or models controlled by frequency inverters or variators for variable flow requirements.

Working Principle and Characteristics of Peristaltic Pumps

Peristaltic pumps are structurally divided into different types within themselves. Each pump may have different design and functional characteristics. In quality pump types, the effect of wear is relatively reduced. This is largely achieved through the rotational movement obtained within the oil. Peristaltic pump types can perform at different capacities and pressures. Similarly, pricing varies in line with these characteristics. In the working principle, fluid compression is at the focal point. As a result of this compression, the fluid can move easily. Abrasive fluids are used relatively more in transfer processes. The system actively receives support from a rotor. These special pumps do not use materials such as seals or valves. This significantly reduces maintenance costs. On the other hand, peristaltic pumps have important advantages in terms of sterilization. The hose and rotor form the main backbone of the system.

Applications of Peristaltic Pumps Expanding

The rotor is positioned in the middle of the pump. Generally, circular movements occur within the system. After the cylinder moves within the system, it does not leak. When we examine the application areas of peristaltic pumps, we can say that today they are distributed across many different sectors. Food processing, mining, paper industry, pharmaceutical industry, chemical measurement, chlorination, dosing are among the leading sectors where peristaltic pumps are used. As the system became better known and tested, it began to find a place in much broader segments of the industry. The role of the advantages it provides and its cost-effectiveness play a major role in its use across such a wide range of applications. Its ability to operate at very high pressure values and its self-priming system are among the leading advantages. Albin, headquartered in France, has been manufacturing hose-type pumps since 1928 for the transfer of sludge, corrosive chemicals, abrasive materials, shear-sensitive fluids, fluids containing solid particles, or fluids of high viscosity and density, with high precision (± 1%). Albin hose pumps are positive displacement and have the capability to self-prime up to 9 m depth (90% vacuum). Due to their requirement for regular maintenance-free operation, continuous operational reliability, and the fact that the transferred fluid is in contact only with the hose, they are the first choice in many difficult applications as they can be used without leakage, clogging, or wear problems. With different models and combinations, they can be used in capacities ranging from 15 l/hour dosing applications to 150 m³/hour transfer applications, at pressures up to a maximum of 15 bar.  
Advantages:
It produces excellent results, especially in the transfer of abrasive, corrosive, shear-sensitive and viscous fluids. • Can self-prime from 9 metres depth. • Hoses consist of 2 to 6 polyamide layers, so their lifespan is quite long. • The electric motor is completely independent from the pump mechanism, so there is no contact between the motor and the transferred fluid. • When maintenance is required, it can be easily performed on site and in the application area. • Accordingly, easy and low-cost operation and maintenance costs are involved. • Precise and continuous dosing can be performed. • Dry operation causes no problems; it can operate continuously dry. • Since it can operate bidirectionally, clogged suction lines can be opened or lines can be emptied easily. • Can operate at high pressure between 0 - 15 bar. • Easy maintenance; the only consumable is the hose. • Its structure does not contain check valves, packing glands, diaphragms, rotors and similar high-risk problem-causing materials.  
Application Areas:
• Water and Wastewater Treatment Plants: Wastewater and sludge applications, lime sludge, carbide, foam, sodium hypochlorite, ferric chloride etc. transfers, filter press applications. • Paper Industry: Transfer of paints, sizing and bonding auxiliary chemicals, bentonite, starch, calcium carbonate, adhesive and titanium dioxide. • Food Industry: Transfer and dosing of all types of waste, molasses, wine, beer, dairy products, sweeteners and additives, sugar syrup etc. • Textile Industry: Paints, fibres, acids, wastewater and sludge applications. • Chemical Industry: Transfer and dosing of corrosive acids and bases. • Paint Industry: Transfer of pigments, latex, paint, ink etc., dispersion feeding. • Mining, mineral processing, ceramics, agriculture, construction, machinery manufacturing and many other sectors for all types of transfer and dosing requirements.     Kadir Fakioğlu Industrial Division Sales Manager Sisdoz A.Ş.
