Piedmont Lithium Receives EPA Permit for Key Ewoyaa Lithium Project in Ghana

Piedmont Lithium, a key player in North America's electric vehicle supply chain, announced that it has obtained environmental approval from Ghana's Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) for its Ewoyaa Lithium Project in Ghana.

This important step is viewed as a major milestone for project advancement.

The Ewoyaa Lithium Project, jointly operated with Atlantic Lithium Limited, plays a critical role in lithium supply. In August 2023, Piedmont Lithium announced plans to acquire a 22.5% stake in the project. This move is part of a broader investment strategy aimed at raising the company's stake in its Ghana lithium portfolio to 50%.

Patrick Brindle, Operations Director at Piedmont Lithium, emphasized the significance of obtaining the EPA approval, stating: "EPA approval is a critical milestone for the Ewoyaa Project. We are grateful to Atlantic Lithium and the EPA for demonstrating such strong commitment to developing this project responsibly. We look forward with anticipation to securing mining license approval and advancing the project to the construction phase."

This approval is a necessary step for project progression, with the next phase being the securing of a mining license and completion of other approvals.

Piedmont Lithium aims to contribute to the development of the global clean energy economy through sustainable lithium production. The company positions itself as a leader in lithium hydroxide production through its Carolina and Tennessee Lithium projects in North America, alongside strategic partnerships in Quebec and Ghana.
