Autonomous Robots Take Over Maintenance and Inspection Tasks
Autonomous Robot Takes on Maintenance and Inspection Tasks
In the specialty chemicals industry, autonomous robots are being deployed to carry out maintenance and inspection tasks in critical areas.
Evonik, a leading company in the chemical industry, announced that it has selected Getac's Atex-certified F110 tablet to control the robot and teach automated inspection routes around the facility.
"The robot receives commands via the Getac F110-EX. The tablet can also be used to control the robot during related tasks such as tank farm operations," said Thorsten Schimpf, Process Specialist at Evonik, who continued:
"The robot is equipped with sensors as well as infrared and optical cameras. This allows it to navigate to specific locations in the facility, take photographs of displays or recorded data, and then send them back for evaluation.
For efficient operation, we needed a portable and durable device capable of displaying real-time video streams from the robot. The F110-EX allows us to do exactly that."
