Memosens 2.0
Memosens 2.0
Endress+Hauser pioneered the development of digital measurement devices and solutions in liquid analysis by launching the first generation Memosens sensors in 2004 and successfully completing a patent application in 2008. To date, more than one million of these sensors have been produced, and Memosens sensors have proven their value in the chemical, pharmaceutical and food industries as well as in water and wastewater treatment. Memosens 2.0 represents the next future-ready step in the evolution of Memosens technology while retaining all the established and well-known advantages. Users can now develop Industry 4.0 strategies for real-world liquid analysis applications.
Easy Digital Data Transfer
The advantage of Memosens technology is that digitalized measurement values and sensor information are transferred from the sensor to the cable via a contactless connection and subsequently as a digital signal to the transmitter. Since Liquiline transmitters automatically recognize the connected sensor type, selection of components for a measurement point is straightforward. The transmitter does not need to be selected specifically for the parameter. Additionally, sensors offer easy operation when it comes to calibration: with Memosens technology, field calibration is no longer necessary. Sensors can be calibrated easily and safely in the laboratory or factory. This is made possible by storing the relevant data in the sensor head. Furthermore, pre-calibrated sensors available for all parameters can be used in a plug-and-play manner.Superior Reliability in Production and Maintenance
Contactless signal transmission makes Memosens sensors highly reliable because inductive, digital signal transfer prevents problems caused by moisture and electromagnetic compatibility issues. Additionally, since connection interruptions between sensor and transmitter are actively monitored, faults can be remedied immediately, thus improving process safety. Since sensors can be replaced quickly and easily, Memosens significantly reduces the time maintenance personnel spend in hazardous environments.Connection to the Industrial Internet of Things with Memosens 2.0
After 17 years, Endress+Hauser is launching Memosens 2.0 as the new generation Memosens technology. While retaining the proven and tested characteristics of the first generation in terms of ease of use and safety, the 2.0 version is now ready to meet the future requirements of Industry 4.0. The new sensors can store the last 8 calibrations/adjustments in the sensor head and data from factory calibration is continuously retained. In other words, the digital history is always accessible. Analysis of this data makes it easier for the user to assess the condition of the sensor. Memosens 2.0 sensors can also be integrated into Endress+Hauser's Netilion IIoT ecosystem with the help of Liquiline transmitters or Field Xpert tablet PCs. The new Memosens generation is fully backward compatible. This means that facility owners and operators are in no way forced to replace their existing lines with new ones. The new sensors can be used without limitation with previously installed generation transmitters, thus protecting past investments.Heartbeat Technology Detects Sensor Condition in pH and Oxygen Measurement
The "sensor condition" function of Heartbeat Technology has been adapted to the new pH and oxygen sensors. In the new generation, pH sensor diagnostics takes into account measured pH values, temperatures to which the sensor is exposed and the time factor in addition to other parameters. As a result, the condition of the sensor is reliably evaluated and facility owners are made easier to plan maintenance work, including sensor replacement if necessary. Similarly, the new amperometric oxygen sensors feature an "electrolyte counter" that provides accurate information about the condition of the electrolyte and informs the user in a timely manner about approaching maintenance requirements.Tools for Easy Maintenance and Repair
Endress+Hauser provides numerous online tools to assist with maintenance and repair procedures, even if Industry 4.0 or IIoT technologies have not been implemented. For example, the Endress+Hauser Operations application downloaded to a smartphone or tablet can be used to identify a Memosens 2.0 sensor. The application can then provide the user with immediate information about the sensor in the field, such as maintenance instructions or required spare parts lists. This information facilitates on-site maintenance work and enables faster access to successful results.Easy to Use in Hazardous Areas
The new Memosens generation also simplifies instrumentation in hazardous areas. All components are individually approved and the measurement point can be easily and safely configured, calculated and installed based on the relevant data concerning connection characteristics. Field installation does not need to be changed. Both first and new generation sensors can be connected and operated with the CYK10 cable. This protects the investment made by users in first generation Memosens technology. Conclusion: Future-Ready Liquid Analysis with Memosens 2.0
First generation Memosens technology is widely used in liquid analysis applications across many different industries thanks to its simplicity, reliability and safety. Memosens 2.0 is the next logical step in the technology's evolution toward connectivity and Industry 4.0. The sensors themselves are intelligent, for example they can communicate digitally and perform self-diagnostics depending on the measurement parameter. It is now also possible to integrate them into cloud solutions such as Endress+Hauser's Netilion IIoT ecosystem. This enables sensor data to be used for more in-depth analyses and positions it for the future.Advertisement
