Turkish Aerospace Industries (TUSAŞ) has been named Turkey's champion in international patent applications filed under the Patent Cooperation Treaty (PCT) in the first quarter of 2022. TUSAŞ Filed Total of 78 Utility Model Applications

TUSAŞ was designated as "Patent Champion" by the PCT in the first quarter of 2022. With a total of 78 utility model applications, TUSAŞ had previously received the "WIPO Best Domestic Invention Award", "Sertaç Köksaldı Intellectual Property Rights Success Award", ISIF'19 GRAND PRIX and IFIA GRAND PRIX awards in previous years. Turkish Aerospace Industries, which carried out work to increase patent applications and quality, has patent applications for air data computers, flight computers, navigation systems and landing systems used in ANKA. Similarly, TUSAŞ also has patent applications for thermal signature enhancement systems for use in ŞİMŞEK, and flight control systems in HÜRKUŞ and HÜRJET aircraft. Additionally, there are patents related to nanomaterials, composites and additive manufacturing production methods for producing aircraft structural components.

"50 Per Cent Growth Seen Year-on-Year in Utility Model Applications"

Turkish Aerospace Industries General Manager Prof. Dr. Temel Kotil made statements regarding Turkey's PCT Patent championship. Kotil said: "We see significant increases year-on-year in our patent applications. Patents are the most realistic indicators of companies' current activities and the areas in which companies will invest over the next ten, twenty years. Companies that use patent engineering correctly within this framework stand out significantly compared to others. Patents are direct and indirect commercial income for companies. Today, a large portion of companies' revenues has begun to be made up of intangible assets such as patents, utility models and trademarks. For this reason, patents should be considered as very important financial resources that can be evaluated as investments in the future." Turkish Aerospace Industries has seen 50 per cent year-on-year growth in national, international and utility model applications filed since 2018. Turkish Aerospace Industries achieved a 100 per cent increase in annual patent registrations in the third quarter of 2021 compared to 2020, and in the first half of 2021 filed international patent applications for patent protection in a total of 109 countries abroad.
