Sun Chemical Expands Fiber Coloring Portfolio

Sun Chemical announced it has expanded its ECO PASSPORT by OEKO-TEX® certified colorant portfolio for yarn-dyed fibers, strengthening its commitment to sustainable fiber processing for textiles. The newly added products complement the existing ECO PASSPORT colorant portfolio, which includes suitable products for polypropylene, polyester and polyamide, now offering excellent suitability for polyamide and polyacrylics. The number of ECO PASSPORT certified colorants has risen to nineteen in total, now covering the full color gamut across various polymers and providing excellent durability performance in both processing and end-use applications. With this certification, the company has reached a new milestone in its ongoing efforts to support sustainable fiber coloring for the textile and plastics industries, supporting circularity according to the applied design concept as well as the increasing need for recyclability to obtain products that do not harm the climate. The ECO PASSPORT by OEKO-TEX® certification sends a signal of high product purity to the fiber industry by controlling potentially harmful chemicals, even if they are not subject to regulation. When it comes to certification of starting materials used in production, it is commonly accepted as one of the reference points by the plastics and textile industries. To obtain the sought certification, colorants must be subjected to rigorous analysis by OEKO-TEX® and approved only if they meet specific requirements for sustainability and safety.
