Solvay Introduces New KetaSpire® PEEK Grade for Precision ABS/ESC Brake and E-Mobility Components
Solvay has announced the launch of KT-850 SCF 30, a new KetaSpire® PEEK grade designed for precision braking systems and e-mobility electronic pump components. The product has been developed to provide better sealing performance compared to standard 30% carbon fiber-filled PEEK grades.
Carbon fiber-filled PEEK has traditionally been used for anti-lock braking system (ABS) and electronic stability control (ESC) components such as pushers, poppers and pistons. The new KT-850 SCF 30 grade enables greater metal (aluminium) replacement by improving the material's flow characteristics and surface finish of parts.
ABS/ESC pistons play a critical role in the operation of the system's hydraulic unit. The system combines an electronic pump, an electronic control unit (ECU), valves that control brake pressure at the wheels, and sensors that measure wheel speed. The piston is responsible for controlling the brake hydraulic supply and actuating the valve movement.
