Regional Leaders in Polyurethane and Composites Meet at Fair, Senior Executives Convene at Sector Panel

Leaders in polyurethane and composites, sectors critical to Turkey's national technology drive launched to achieve 2023 targets, are gathering 25-27 November at Putech Eurasia and Eurasian Composites Show. At a panel to be held on the fair's second day, Europe's sector head Bart ten Brink and senior executives from major companies will speak.

Europe's Sector Head to Speak

Leading figures in the polyurethane sector are meeting at a panel to be held at Putech Eurasia and Eurasian Composites Show. Bart ten Brink, President of the European Flexible Polyurethane Foam Block Producers Association (EUROPUR), Dr. Başar Yıldız, Member of the Executive Board at Flokser Kimya, Cavidan Karaca, CEO of Kimteks Poliüretan, Mehmet Şişmanoğlu, General Manager of Pürplast, and Levent Atmaca, Director of DOW Türkiye Polyurethane Systems, will discuss the present and future of the polyurethane market, R&D activities and competition in the sector. At panels focused on industry innovations, the role and importance of composites and polyurethane in Turkey's national technology drive will be addressed, with success stories highlighted. Polyurethane, present in everything from aircraft to buildings, footwear to electronics, automotive to defense, medical to sports, maintains its motto of being "in every part of life" thanks to its unique properties of insulation, malleability and fire resistance. Composites, which have drawn attention through Turkey's rapid development in the defense industry, are increasingly preferred each day for the exceptional durability they provide, from construction to renewable energy, and across land, maritime, air and rail transportation. The fairs, representing a regional meeting of two sectors critically important to Turkey's national technology drive, will transform into a Polyurethane and Composites showcase with over 200 participants across an area of 12,000 square meters. Cengiz Yaman, General Director of ARTKİM Fuarcılık, organizer of Putech Eurasia and Eurasian Composite Show, stressed that polyurethane and composites are among Turkey's most critical sectors, stating: "Polyurethane and composites are critically important for UAVs and combat UAVs that are spearheading Turkey's National Technology Drive. To contribute to Turkey's realization of this mission in strategic industries such as polyurethane and composites, we are organizing the region's most important gathering in Istanbul."

Two Key Turkish Sectors Growing an Average of 10% Unite

Within the framework of the national technology drive, polyurethane and composites, particularly among the most important components of the defense industry, continue to assert their claim as among the most important tools on Turkey's path to global leadership from a sectoral standpoint. Turkey, which has drawn world attention with domestically-produced UAVs and combat UAVs made using polyurethane and composites, generates high added value with these components in many domestic and national products.

Polyurethane Sector in Every Part of Life

Polyurethane use is increasing each day in many sectors including bedding and furniture, building and construction, electronics, aviation, defense, automotive and transport, footwear, packaging, textiles, white goods, air conditioning and medical. Beyond its best-known insulation properties, its moldability and light weight reduce costs in many applications. Moreover, its fire-resistance property, which can be achieved through additional processing, presents unique opportunities. Due to increased energy efficiency, demand for the polyurethane sector from end-use sectors is growing each day. The polyurethane industry is also pursuing intensive R&D work for different and innovative applications.

Composites: The Sector of the Future with Steady Growth

The composites sector, playing a leading role in the growth of many sectors such as carbon fiber applications, CTP pipe applications, automotive and transport, renewable energy, maritime, building-construction and engineering plastics, is projected to reach a volume of 10 million tons with 4% volumetric growth on a global scale over the next 5 years. In Turkey, the sector is expected to show approximately 5% growth in 2019. Turkey's Composites Sector, Europe's sixth-largest producer, is showing growth above world and European averages. Following years of average growth of 8-12% annually in Turkey, the sector is expected to finish this year with 5% growth. The fairs will be open for visits 25-27 November 2021 for 3 days between 10:00 and 18:00 at Istanbul Expo Center.
