Lanxess and INFAC Develop Battery Module Housing A halogen-free, flame-retardant and glass fibre-reinforced polyamide 6 (PA6) component reduces battery module assembly weight, improves insulation and flame resistance and maintains high levels of functional integration. Lanxess and INFAC have jointly developed a battery module housing for electric vehicles (EVs). The battery housing has been adapted for series production of EV models launched by a South Korean OEM. Specialty chemicals company Lanxess (Cologne, Germany) and South Korean automotive parts specialist INFAC (Seoul), which specializes in automotive control cables, actuators, antennas and battery packs, have jointly developed a battery module housing for electric vehicles (EVs). INFAC Head of Purchasing and Development Gyuso Lee said: "Lanxess's high-quality materials, technical expertise and customized engineering services enabled us to accelerate our development. This helped strengthen our position in the rapidly growing EV battery components market." Lanxess's engineering plastics are reported to be applicable to a wide range of battery components, including battery covers, high-voltage connectors, cable brackets and battery cell cooling system tubing, as well as parts for hydrogen fuel cell vehicles such as hydrogen storage tanks. It also provides lightweight design by replacing metals in various components.
