Kordsa Lightens Batteries for Electric Vehicles

Kordsa, a reinforcement leader continuously advancing its composites expertise through new investments, is supplying carbon fiber fabric to British firm TRB Lightweight Structures for series production of battery enclosures for electric vehicles. Today, lightweight composites are of major importance for the development of electric vehicles and sustainable transport solutions. Kordsa, a reinforcement leader that places sustainability at the center of its operations, continues to collaborate with leading companies in the sector for a sustainable future. In this context, Kordsa supplies carbon fiber fabric to TRB Lightweight Structures, a high-volume global composites manufacturer. TRB uses Kordsa's carbon fiber fabrics in the production of composite battery enclosures manufactured for electric vehicles. The carbon fiber fabrics, initially put into series production at TRB's facilities in the United Kingdom, will also be used at the company's facility in Kentucky. Through its strong global supply chain, Kordsa is able to supply carbon fiber fabric to TRB both from Turkey and from its U.S. company Fabric Development Inc. Kordsa began shipping carbon fiber fabric to the United Kingdom for TRB's series production of electric vehicle battery enclosures in November. In comments on the TRB collaboration, Kordsa CEO Ali Çalışkan stated, "With this project, which adds another partnership to our composites collaborations, we are now reinforcing a broader scope of applications. Under the supplier agreement we have signed with TRB, our carbon fiber fabrics will be used in the production of battery enclosures for electric vehicles, contributing to vehicle weight reduction without compromising quality and performance.
