Kimpur Publishes 2021 Sustainability Report

Kimteks Poliüretan Sanayi ve Ticaret A.Ş. (KİMPUR), a chemical industry company ranked 314th among Turkey's largest 500 industrial enterprises, released its 2021 Sustainability Report, which marks its second report containing sustainability work conducted with the aim of doing the best for society and the environment. KİMPUR, which aims to leave a more livable world for the future through its sustainability initiatives, noted in its published report that the company has taken an important step by increasing the use of bio-based raw materials. The 2021 Sustainability Report includes activities carried out within the scope of the sustainability strategy along with environmental, social and economic impacts as well as measurement, monitoring and improvement steps taken in governance.

KİMPUR Included 2021 Activities in Sustainability Report

KİMPUR, a 100% domestically-owned polyurethane systems house with the largest production capacity and sales volume in Turkey, released its 2021 Sustainability Report. The released report covers activities between 1 January 2021 and 31 December 2021 and was prepared in accordance with GRI Standards. An export champion, KİMPUR exports the polyurethane systems it produces to more than 45 countries, and these polyurethane systems are used in different sectors such as footwear, automotive, furniture, heating and cooling and insulation-construction. KİMPUR, which prioritizes sustainable growth and operates with the awareness that this growth cannot be achieved without creating environmental and social value, made important commitments to international stakeholders in its 2021 Sustainability Report regarding the reduction of carbon and plastic footprints. The 2021 Sustainability Report includes KİMPUR's work conducted in line with 'product', 'energy', 'waste', 'water', 'carbon' and 'plastic management'.

41% Female Employment Among White-Collar Workers

In 2021, KİMPUR achieved energy savings of 7.06% and took strong steps in female employment alongside its contributions to the environment. KİMPUR, which makes it a principle to promote gender equality among all employees and raise awareness, support female employment and support women throughout their careers, drew attention with 41% female employment among white-collar workers and a 44% female manager ratio.

"We Accelerated Our Product Work That Minimizes Environmental Impacts in Our Production Processes"

KİMPUR CEO Cavidan Karaca made statements about sustainability work and the report. Karaca said: "We accelerated our product work that minimizes environmental impacts in our production processes. We became a member of the Business Plastics Initiative (İPG). We obtained our ISO 50001:2018 Energy Management System certification. We achieved 7.06% energy savings. At the Gebze production facility, we signed a contract for the use of renewable energy sources with a solar energy system. By following the Carbon and Water Footprint Calculation steps based on ISO 14064 and ISO 14046 standards, we continued our activities in line with sustainability principles. We initiated infrastructure work for SA 8000 Social Responsibility Management System, a global standard for human rights management, and ISO 14001 Environmental Management System to continuously improve our environmental performance." he said.

Increased Bio-Based Raw Material Usage

Cavidan Karaca also noted that R&D work continued rapidly in 2021 and that 35 product designs were implemented. Karaca said: "We designed special products that create a difference with their performance among our customers. We continued work on bio-based projects. We increased the use of bio-based raw materials in the footwear product group. Behind all these successes we mentioned, we stood out with our commitment to sustainability principles, investments in R&D, innovation and technology, customer focus, technical support service and human resources policies structured in direct proportion to our goal of being a good employer. In this growth journey, our priority is to create a corporate structure model that makes a difference in the sector in line with 'sustainability' principles. I extend my endless thanks to all our employees, business partners and customers who contributed to us in this journey." he said.
