Final Stage Reached for First Composite Bumper Beam

Assan Hanil, an automotive supply sector manufacturer from Kibar Holding group companies, continues work on a composite bumper beam carrier. The lightweight-focused product, developed with a EUR 15 million investment projection and critical for fuel economy and sustainability, will enter series production in 2023. As the automotive sector continues to transform at rapid pace through sustainability-focused innovations, Assan Hanil, a company from the Kibar Holding group, has signed off on important work in this area. According to statements made, the company has reached the final stage for Turkey's first composite bumper beam carrier as a result of vehicle lightweight-focused research and development efforts. The product, which will enter series production in 2023, will be used in Hyundai i10, i20 and Bayon models. The component, developed by Turkish engineers, will accelerate localization in the automotive sector.

EUR 15 million investment

As part of its vehicle lightweight work, the company will make a EUR 5 million investment in the short term for composite parts production. In the medium term, the company will deploy an additional EUR 10 million investment to gain control over the entire value chain and will add composite product design and development to its research and development capabilities.

Carbon emissions reduced

Assan Hanil General Manager Atacan Güner, noting that the company continues its work to add different composite parts to its product portfolio within the scope of its strategic goals and sustainability initiatives, continued his remarks as follows: "Growth of our sector through sustainable methods is a key agenda item on a global scale. Establishing and strengthening research and development structures in the automotive supply sector, and ensuring that their operations and investments contribute to the sector's transformation is necessary. Within this scope, vehicle lightweight stands out as one of the most priority matters. Through lightweighting vehicles, energy consumption is reduced and carbon emissions are lowered. In this way, a more environmentally conscious vehicle ecosystem is created. As a company, we are adding another solution to lightweight solutions that contribute to energy efficiency with this vision. Through our composite bumper system project, for which we will be responsible for design, development and production, we are realizing the first domestic composite transformation."
