C.O.I.M S.p.A Accelerates Investment Momentum With our acquisition of Neoflex SL in May 2021, a company that has been manufacturing polyurethane adhesives in Spain for over 60 years, C.O.I.M S.p.A aims to strengthen its polyester sector activities primarily through the production of reactive polyurethane hotmelt and two-component adhesives. Since reactive polyurethanes consist primarily of polyesters and isocyanates, as C.O.I.M S.p.A we have positioned ourselves to control the manufacture of these adhesives from polyester formulation through final product production, enabling us to offer end customers the most suitable products according to their needs. Reactive polyurethane hotmelt adhesives are a technology applicable across many industrial sectors such as construction, building, automotive, textiles and decoration. Reactive polyurethanes are a technology displacing the use of other more conventional adhesive lines due to the performance they demonstrate in terms of heat resistance, hydrolysis resistance, process acceleration and efficiency. Due to the growing need to work with environmentally responsible products, as C.O.I.M S.p.A we have strengthened our lines through work on bio-renewable raw materials and isocyanates with low free isomer content. Products manufactured with these raw materials are being integrated into the product range by Neoflex SL. Demand for reactive polyurethane hotmelt has increased exponentially in recent years, with estimated annual consumption exceeding 100,000 tonnes in the Europe Middle East-Africa region, use of this technology continues to grow each year and products are being adopted in new sectors thanks to their openness to development. In coming years, consumption of reactive polyurethane hotmelt adhesives is expected to continue increasing worldwide.
