BASF Develops New Polyphthalamide for Prefabricated Components

German chemical company BASF has launched Ultramid Advanced N5H UN, a new polyphthalamide (PPA) designed for extruding prefabricated components and small assemblies. The PPA can be applied to semi-finished parts through extrusion.

The company stated that Ultramid Advanced N was developed to deliver excellent mechanical properties at elevated temperatures due to its semi-aromatic chemical structure.

  German plastics company GEHR is currently using the PPA to produce extruded stock shapes with a 50 mm diameter. Bernhard Grosskinsky, Head of Application Technology at GEHR, said, "BASF's polyphthalamide is much easier to process compared to other PPAs on the market.
