Green Polypropylene Projects Lummus and Citroniq sign letter of intent for green polypropylene projects. Partnership will leverage expertise and innovation to produce green polypropylene. Lummus Technology, a global provider of process technologies and value-driven energy solutions, and Citroniq Chemicals, a worldwide producer of carbon-negative materials, announced that the two companies have signed a letter of intent (LOI) for the development of Citroniq's green polypropylene (PP) projects in North America. These projects will utilize Lummus's VerdeneTM PP technology package. Leon de Bruyn, President and CEO of Lummus Technology, said, "Lummus is honored to collaborate with Citroniq to bring this innovative and sustainable technology to market that will facilitate our industry's further decarbonization." "Lummus is a leading firm in PP technology licensing and can serve as a springboard for Citroniq's green, carbon negative PP to meet rising demand for products using sustainable materials." Kelly Knopp, President and Founding Partner of Citroniq Chemicals, said, "Together, Citroniq and Lummus are creating the world's first sustainable bio-polypropylene production process on a global scale in North America." "The initial facility will separate approximately 1.2 million metric tons of CO2 annually as solid polypropylene pellets and will provide customers with an effective solution to reduce their carbon footprint and meet ESG targets." Mel Badheka, Director and Founding Partner of Citroniq Chemicals, said "With projected investment exceeding USD 5 billion and combined annual PP capacity exceeding 3.5 billion pounds (approximately 1.5 million metric tons), Citroniq is prepared to implement a rapid expansion plan of the E2O process to meet the market's growing need for sustainable, carbon-negative polypropylene at competitive pricing." "Citroniq's first facility, located in the Midwest, is planned to begin production in 2026 and deliver identical, off-the-shelf products that can be directly bio-certified through physical testing."   Source
