Turkey-Azerbaijan 2nd Energy Forum Begins

Turkey-Azerbaijan Second Energy Forum Opens The Turkey-Azerbaijan Second Energy Forum, organized to foster greater energy cooperation between the two countries, began today in Istanbul. Turkey is hosting the second edition of the Turkey-Azerbaijan Energy Forum, with the first having taken place in Baku on 21-22 December 2021. The forum, which aims to bring together public and private sectors in the energy field of both countries, will see four separate working groups focusing on further developing energy relations between Turkey and Azerbaijan. The working groups will address numerous areas of energy, including hydrocarbons, petrochemicals, electricity transmission and distribution, and renewable energy. Protocols prepared as a result of the groups' discussions will be signed by the energy ministers of both countries. At the forum's closing, Vice President Fuat Oktay, Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Fatih Dönmez, and Azerbaijan's Minister of Energy Perviz Shahbazov will deliver remarks. Following the Azerbaijan-Turkey First Energy Forum held in Baku, significant progress was made with the signing of agreements prepared by the working groups. While the national energy companies of both countries have increased their cooperation, discussions on third-country collaboration have continued.

Azerbaijani officials and renewable energy sector investors developed their relations with companies in Turkey. It was reported that delegations will visit Turkey for technical tours in the near term. In the electricity transmission field, Turkey is transferring expertise to Azerbaijan, and it was reported that work is continuing on an operating agreement between Turkey Electricity Transmission Corporation and the State Energy Agency of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic.
