Turkey's Statistics Institute (TÜİK) announced industrial production data. Industrial production rose 66 percent year-on-year, while a monthly decline of 0.9 percent was recorded. Üçay Grup CEO Turan Şakacı commented on the TÜİK data, stating: "Pandemic conditions affected the electricity, gas, steam and air-conditioning production and distribution sector less than other industrial sectors. Nevertheless, looking at TÜİK data, we see that the negative atmosphere created by the pandemic is beginning to dissipate and production figures are starting to normalize. The energy sector is an industrial branch that will continue to operate under any circumstances. If the energy sector stops, Turkey stops," he said. Turkey's Statistics Institute (TÜİK) announced industrial production data. Compared to 2020, industrial production increased 66 percent, while a monthly decline of 0.9 percent was recorded. Turan Şakacı, CEO of Üçay Grup, which houses leading companies in the mechanical and industrial engineering sector with over 20 years of experience, evaluated the industrial data for energy production, distribution and air-conditioning sectors.

"IF THE ENERGY SECTOR STOPS, TURKEY STOPS"

Stating that industrial production experienced slowdowns due to the pandemic last year, Üçay Grup CEO Turan Şakacı said: "We can see that the production slowdowns caused by the pandemic have decreased this year. Despite full lockdowns and restrictions, the permits granted to industrial sectors enabled producers to work without interruption. We can explain the improvement we see in the figures this way. On the other hand, we felt the effects of the pandemic less in the energy production, distribution and air-conditioning sectors compared to other sectors. The energy sector will continue to operate under any circumstances. If the energy sector stops, Turkey stops," he said.

"INDUSTRIAL DATA IN THE ENERGY SECTOR INCREASED 25.3 PERCENT"

Revealing the differences between 2020 and 2021 in the energy sector, Turan Şakacı noted: "TÜİK data shows that industrial production between April 2020 and April 2021 increased 25.3 percent. The removal of uncertainties brought by the pandemic and the increase in energy demand led to new investments to create supply. When we consider that new investments combined with deferred investments, we can explain the increase in TÜİK data," he said.

"TIME SPENT AT HOME POSITIVELY AFFECTED THE AIR-CONDITIONING SECTOR"

Evaluating the air-conditioning production and distribution sector, Üçay Grup CEO Turan Şakacı said: "According to TÜİK data, the air-conditioning production and distribution sector experienced a production increase of 24.7 percent. People who began spending significantly more time at home than usual due to full lockdowns and restrictions spent more on making their homes more comfortable than they did before the pandemic. We can see the effects of this in the industrial data as well," he concluded.
