Petrol Ofisi Launches AtılKurt Project
Petrol Ofisi completed the most critical phase of its comprehensive digitalization journey under pandemic conditions, in record time and without disruption. Through the AtılKurt Project, Petrol Ofisi transitioned its Enterprise Resource Planning – Corporate Operating System to SAP S/4HANA.
Following 13 months of meticulous preparation, planning, adaptation/development and testing, the transition to the new system was executed seamlessly in the opening days of 2022. Petrol Ofisi's AtılKurt Project carries distinct significance compared to other transformation projects in terms of impact and results, having brought into operation within a single year a scope encompassing the totality of activities such as Procurement, Logistics, Warehousing, Sales, Finance, Planning, Reporting and Human Resources.
Petrol Ofisi's digitalization journey
Petrol Ofisi, the sector leader in Turkey's petroleum products and industrial oils sectors, maintained momentum on its projects throughout the pandemic period. During this challenging time, the sector leader—advancing its successes across all areas, adding new achievements, continuing its investments and beginning production through partnership with a global brand—reached another significant milestone in company history. The AtılKurt Project was based on SAP's Model Company solution, specifically designed for Oil&Gas sector supply and sales operations in S/4HANA software, the most current version in SAP's industrial solution offerings. Within this scope, this transformation—the most critical phase of Petrol Ofisi's comprehensive digitalization journey in which over 20 modules and approximately 50 satellite systems operate integratively, managing all operational and financial processes end-to-end in petroleum products, LPG and industrial oils trade—was executed within a framework of 13 months of meticulous work and planning due to the critical points and risks it contained in terms of scale, scope and impact.Difference in scope, scale and timeframe
Petrol Ofisi's historic transformation was carried out by a dedicated project team formed internally and relevant employees, under the guidance of GoLive and Detaysoft consulting and SAP's leadership. Having replaced its Enterprise Resource Planning – Corporate Operating System, Petrol Ofisi transitioned to SAP usage in a single night and without disruption, following meticulous preparations and planning. The transition to SAP usage occurred on the night of 31 December 2021 to 1 January 2022, and Petrol Ofisi entered the new year with its new system. The transition to SAP usage was executed as planned in the project schedule, following detailed process steps and timelines without creating major problems and risks in technical and operational integration. All processes were carried out with notification to sectoral stakeholders and all precautions were taken meticulously. All developments related to operational processes were implemented in full coordination with internal and external stakeholders. Petrol Ofisi's AtılKurt project ranks among leading transformation projects in terms of scope and scale.A national and global success
Emphasizing that the AtılKurt Project represents an important milestone in Petrol Ofisi history while also creating a national and global success story, Petrol Ofisi Chief Executive Officer Selim Şiper commented on this transformation as follows: "Our comprehensive digitalization efforts gained further meaning with our transition to SAP within the scope of the AtılKurt project, and we successfully navigated a critical turn. SAP will be utilized at our institution end-to-end and in all its modules from day one. I believe this scope and scale of transformation is rare in our country. Furthermore, the fact that the entire project moved from concept to implementation in just 13 months also represents one of the examples globally. This success is particularly the work of our full-time project team, project leaders from various departments and key users, as well as our GoLive, Detaysoft and SAP Premium Engagement consultants. This is the most comprehensive, largest-scale and shortest-timeframe project I have witnessed in my professional career—an exemplar of planning and discipline. I commend all who contributed."The AtılKurt Project received recognition before completion
The AtılKurt Project from Petrol Ofisi also took the stage at the SAP Transformation Awards of the Year, where SAP announced leading projects in innovation and transformation by industry and business unit. In the evaluation conducted by experts based on various criteria such as 'innovation in the use of SAP technologies', 'innovation and added value in intended business process transformation', 'employee experience improvement initiative', 'customer experience improvement initiative', and 'project's contribution to human life', the AtılKurt Project won the 'Digital Transformation Award of the Year in the Oil and Natural Gas Sector'. The fact that AtılKurt was deemed worthy of this award on 25 November 2021, even before its completion, carries even greater significance in highlighting the uniqueness of the project in terms of scope and timeframe.Advertisement
