Investments in Petrochemicals to Turkey Growing Sergey Komışan, Chief Executive Officer of SIBUR, Russia's largest petrochemical company, stated that they plan to increase investments targeting the Turkish market, saying, "Turkey has always been an important region for SIBUR. Turkey's potential is extremely high, particularly in certain sectors of the economy." Pointing to a significant increase in linear polyethylene consumption in Turkey last year, Komışan said, "We have also increased the supply of this product this year. There is also significant demand growth in polypropylene copolymers used in household appliances and car parts. We plan to supply this product soon as well." Emphasizing that Turkey holds a major place in SIBUR's operations, Komışan stated, "Turkey has always been an important region for SIBUR. Turkey's potential is extremely high, particularly in certain sectors of the economy." Describing investment activities to increase the supply of various products demanded by Turkey, Komışan said, "In 2022, we are starting maleic anhydride production with a capacity of 45 thousand tons per year. We will supply part of this production to Turkey. Discussions with main buyers have already taken place and we are preparing for first deliveries next year." Komışan noted that in 2024 they aim to complete construction of the Amur natural gas facility, one of the largest facilities in the country, saying, "With the completion of this facility, we will be able to increase our polypropylene and polyethylene export volumes. The new facility will have polymer production capacity exceeding 2.7 million tons. Turkey will undoubtedly continue to be one of SIBUR's main supply regions. Additionally, Turkey is also important as an intermediate sales and delivery point for our products to various regions such as Israel and North Africa."

Joint Projects with Turkish Companies

Mentioning successful collaborations with numerous Turkish companies at facilities SIBUR has built in Russia, Komışan said, "We have good experience with Rönesans company. We are always open to the participation of Turkish partners in our other construction and projects." Commenting on ZapSibNeftekhim (ZapSib), the country's largest petrochemical facility built in Russia's Siberia region with the participation of Turkish companies, Komışan continued: "ZapSib completely transformed SIBUR's position in the Turkish market. The increase in polypropylene production enabled SIBUR to become one of the three largest polypropylene importers to Turkey in 2020. We began our first polyethylene deliveries last year and in 2021 we plan to become one of the three companies importing the most high-density polyethylene and linear low-density polyethylene, but our main achievement is not volume growth. ZapSib enabled us to offer polymers for various applications that increased our customer base several times over. We plan to expand the polymer range at ZapSib and regularly supply our Turkish customers."
