mobiWAN Tested at Tüpraş Refineries

mobiWAN, the product of Mobilus Labs—a startup featured among Time magazine's most innovative initiatives of 2021—has begun trials at Tüpraş refineries. The technology addresses the need for communication in high-noise industrial settings and offers significant contributions to workplace safety. Tüpraş, which conducts work on today's and tomorrow's operations through entrepreneurship, innovation, open innovation and start-up integration, continues to develop collaboration by testing innovative technologies from both domestic and foreign startups in its refineries. The product, which enables voice communication in noisy environments, uses technology based on the principle of sound transmission through the jawbone. With this technology, speech and listening are possible even in high-noise areas. The mobiWAN device, which can solve the need for communication in noise-intensive areas of industrial facilities and was first deployed in June 2022 at the İzmit Refinery, was also tested during the use of a supplied-air respirator that fully covers the face and blocks voice communication. While normal speech could not be heard due to the respirator mask, conversations were transmitted via radio thanks to the device's special sensors that transmit sound through the jawbone. The Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) technology used in the mobiWAN communication product, which allows easy integration with harnesses due to its lightweight design, offers both extended battery life and the ability to be used together with different devices such as telephones and radios. Development work specific to the refinery is ongoing in collaboration with Mobilus Labs, with the aim of deploying the products in operational processes within the year.
