Chevron Lummus Global Expands Portfolio with Fischer-Tropsch Liquid Upgrading Solutions

The expansion strengthens the hydroprocessing portfolio with proven hydroprocessing technologies for upgrading FT-derived liquid feeds.
Expansion strengthens hydrotreating portfolio with proven technologies for upgrading FT-derived liquids.
Chevron Lummus Global (CLG) announced that it has added Fischer-Tropsch (FT) liquid upgrading solutions to its portfolio, enabling the company to license and deliver technologies for converting FT-derived liquids obtained from various feedstocks.
Previously licensed by Chevron U.S.A. Inc., these solutions deliver premium products such as Group III/III+ base oils, sustainable aviation fuel (SAF), and high-quality jet and diesel fuels with unique reliability, efficiency and consistent high performance.
"Adding these solutions directly to CLG's licensing portfolio reinforces our commitment to offering proven technologies that help customers maximize the value they obtain from FT-derived products," said Arun Arora, Chief Technology Officer at CLG. "With this expansion, we are positioning CLG to meet growing demand worldwide for premium fuels, base oils and sustainable energy solutions."
FT-derived hydrocarbons play a vital role in diversifying energy sources and advancing sustainability. The FT process enables the production of high-quality synthetic fuels from various feedstocks, including renewable biomass, reducing dependence on crude oil, coal and natural gas. When renewable feedstocks are used, FT-derived fuels can significantly reduce greenhouse gas emissions and contribute to decarbonizing aviation and other high-emission sectors.
For years, Chevron has licensed FT hydrotreating technologies successfully deployed in commercial units for upgrading FT-derived paraffinic hydrocarbons. Supported by advanced catalyst systems, these solutions deliver leading yields in the industry, long catalyst life and premium product quality.
With the transition of FT licensing from Chevron to CLG, CLG will now lead all technology licensing, revamp support and catalyst fill services for FT liquid upgrading; these include basic engineering packages, digital services, startup assistance and ongoing technical support.
