ChemOrbis Petrochemical Conference, sponsored by Bayegan and Tasnee, addressed sector challenges and future prospects.

The ChemOrbis Global Petrochemical Conference 2024, which shapes the dynamics of the petrochemical sector, was held in Istanbul on 22 October under the sponsorship of BAYEGAN and Tasnee. ChemOrbis, which brings together industry leaders, experts and visionaries to discover trends, share knowledge and shape the future, has been organizing global conferences in Asia, Europe, the Middle East and Africa since 2010. The conference was attended by leading experts and companies representing all stakeholders of the sector, including distributors, producers, end-users and logistics partners.

The opening speeches of the conference were delivered by BAYEGAN CEO Burcu Olcay Üstüner and Yasser Al-Daajani, Vice President of Commerce, on behalf of Tasnee. Burcu Olcay Üstüner said: "First of all, I would like to thank you all for being with us today, ChemOrbis for realizing this wonderful organization, and Tasnee for the support it has given to the Turkish market. Last year was not an easy period; the crisis affected not just Turkey but the entire world globally. Although I think 2025 will be more difficult, I believe Turkey will be a shining star in the petrochemical sector and I hope we will see the old growth in our sector again. As BAYEGAN, we will continue to grow together with our producers and customers. We are aware of our responsibility in this growth process and are taking strong steps on this path. With our increasing production capacity, expanding trade volume and innovative product portfolio, we aim to make a difference not only in Turkey but also around the world. Our medium and long-term strategy is to develop production processes supported by innovation by placing a more human-centered approach at the foundation of sustainable growth."

Yasser Al-Daajani, speaking on behalf of Tasnee, said: "I would like to thank everyone present here for their participation, the ChemOrbis team for this organization, and BAYEGAN for our continued cooperation. One of the most important issues facing our sector is supply-demand balance. As suppliers and customers, we all need to work together to maintain this."

ChemOrbis CEO Alp Fehmi Özdenler, in his speech titled "Directing Polymers: Uncovering Market Dynamics," said: "We are facing oversupply, so optimization in production will be important. Moreover, we need to closely monitor geopolitical uncertainties. Plastic recycling will affect costs and supply-demand balance in the coming period."

The conference, which included rich content comprising market analyses and forecasts by product and region presented by ChemOrbis market analysts, emphasized that the sector is undergoing change. Demand contraction, oversupply, cost pressure and tightening margins, environmental impact and priorities, and geopolitical factors were identified as the main factors driving change. Innovation, optimization in production and at every stage of the value chain, and the sector moving in cooperation emerged as ways out of the current paradigm facing the industry.
