ESOGÜ Smart Factory and Robotics Laboratory developing diverse products in the digital sector.

The Smart Factory and Robotics Laboratory, affiliated with Eskişehir Osmangazi University (ESOGÜ) Smart Systems Application and Research Center, holds the distinction of being a first and only operational Digital Innovation Hub (DIH) in Turkey. Prof. Dr. Ahmet Yazıcı, faculty member at ESOGÜ Faculty of Engineering and Architecture Department of Computer Engineering and Director of ESOGÜ Smart Systems Application and Research Center, made important statements. Prof. Dr. Yazıcı, who was a guest at a program prepared by ESOGÜ Corporate Communication Application and Research Center, discussed digital transformation and artificial intelligence, and provided information about the Smart Application and Research Center within the university.

Artificial intelligence's effectiveness in daily life is increasing

Prof. Dr. Yazıcı, highlighting that artificial intelligence as part of digital transformation is beginning to play a critical role in daily life, stated: "Artificial intelligence needs data to achieve expected targets and benefits. In all areas undergoing digital transformation today, this has already been created, and artificial intelligence will begin a new era. Because artificial intelligence produces important results that will inform decisions in our family, social and professional lives by processing data and evaluating different algorithms." Prof. Dr. Yazıcı reminded that artificial intelligence can be used even in home life to reduce electricity bills and create value.

Only in Turkey

Prof. Dr. Yazıcı noted that ESOGÜ Smart Systems Application and Research Center was established to contribute to the research and development of smart systems. Prof. Dr. Yazıcı discussed the center's work, which aims to provide practical solutions regarding artificial intelligence research and applications in robotics, industry, health, agriculture and security fields, develop production-ready products, and create roadmaps.

Serving industry in terms of digitalization and artificial intelligence

Yazıcı, reporting that they conduct work on algorithm designs in a way that artificial intelligence produces value through interdisciplinary studies involving students and faculty members, concluded his remarks: "Over the past 10 years, due to our work, we obtained Digital Innovation Hub (DIH) status at the European level. There are over 300 Digital Innovation Hubs in Europe. In Turkey, three places have applied for this type of DIH status, and there is only one operational HUB—the ESOGÜ Smart Factory and Robotics Laboratory. By serving the sector in terms of digitalization and artificial intelligence, we developed diverse products. We integrated robotic systems, digital systems that would be useful to end users, and artificial intelligence algorithms into tools to make them applicable. We achieved these in the industrial field; we also have activities and work in agriculture, health, and smart cities. We provide support to institutions and organizations that apply to us by offering roadmap services in artificial intelligence and digital transformation work and by progressing in cooperation."   Source
