Training Sessions Begin at Sartonet Bilgi Akademisi

Training programs have begun at Sartonet Bilgi Akademisi, opened by Sartonet, Turkey's authorized representative of Sartorius, in Istanbul-Koşuyolu.

Sartonet General Manager Ömer Erdem made the following comments on the subject:

"We set out to convey the knowledge we have accumulated over 40 years to our ecosystem and to the generations that will come after us. We prepared the academy building exclusively for these trainings. In our trainings, we have never conducted product or company presentations. The trainings here take the form of practical examples and sharing our accumulated knowledge. We invite everyone who is an expert in their field to share their knowledge at Sartonet Bilgi Akademisi."

Noting that with the Ministry of Health's membership in PIC/s in 2018, compliance with international regulations by pharmaceutical manufacturers became more important than ever and led to the idea of establishing Sartonet Bilgi Akademisi, Ömer Erdem continued as follows:

"We knew that there was insufficient knowledge in the industry, particularly on filter selection and filter validation used in pharmaceutical manufacturing, our area of specialization. Due to these regulations being implemented much earlier worldwide, we aimed to share the knowledge and experience we have gained on this subject with our country. Deciding to put our shoulder to the wheel on compliance with these regulations, which we believe will make Turkish pharmaceutical manufacturers stronger in international competition, we have organized numerous seminars in Istanbul and Ankara since 2018."   [caption id="attachment_146234" align="aligncenter"] Sartonet General Manager Ömer Erdem[/caption]

Training moved online during the pandemic

Erdem stated that with the start of the outbreak, they rapidly moved these trainings online and continued to provide these trainings online to IEIS members and other pharmaceutical manufacturers, and continued: "Sharing what we know made us so happy that we decided to conduct these trainings in a building prepared solely for these shared sessions and to turn our academy into a knowledge center for our entire ecosystem. We established Sartonet Bilgi Akademisi by dedicating a building located next to our office in Koşuyolu exclusively to training."  

Many trainings offered in different areas

"Our trainings provided to pharmaceutical manufacturers on correct filter selection, filter validation and testing consist of many subtopics. We receive numerous requests for trainings on subjects that authorities particularly emphasize, such as Bacteria Challenge Test, Integrity Test, and Extractable & Leachable Test. These subjects have not yet fully settled in the human pharmaceutical industry. Moreover, similar developments are now occurring for veterinary pharmaceutical manufacturers in these areas where inspectors request answers. We also share our knowledge on products such as scales and pipettes used in laboratories within the framework of regulations and efficiency. In addition, we have information we particularly wish to share in the beverage sector, especially regarding contamination," he stated.  

"We designed interactive trainings"

Erdem emphasized that they do not conduct any product or brand promotion in the trainings: "We explain international standards, current facts on topical issues, what authorities require, and how manufacturers can respond to these requirements. This approach both surprises and delights those who participate in our trainings. Here we have designed interactive trainings where participants can touch materials related to the subjects—for example, various filters—test them, and find answers to their questions. We want everyone who receives training here to gain competence in filter and filter validation processes or related subjects and create value in their personal careers. In short, I believe we have not fulfilled our responsibility to our Republic as we should. For this reason, this academy has always been my dream. I hope Sartonet Bilgi Akademisi will be a knowledge-sharing center where we share what we know, where experts from various fields come and provide trainings, and that it will contribute to the development of our country," he said.
