We had a pleasant conversation with Sakıp Hasgül, Chairman of the Board at Ekip Mühendislik A.Ş., about the company's development process and the products it has provided to the sector.

Mr. Sakıp Hasgül, could you briefly tell our readers about yourself and your professional background in the sector?

I was born in Sivas in 1965. I completed my primary and secondary education in Istanbul and my undergraduate degree in the Mechanical Engineering department at Yıldız Teknik Üniversitesi. Until 1997, I worked as an engineer at a company manufacturing chemical process equipment. In 1997, I founded my own company, Ekip Mühendislik A.Ş., to implement my ideas and the projects I had developed. I continue to serve as Chairman of the Board at Ekip Mühendislik A.Ş., which I founded.

Could you tell us about Ekip Mühendislik's development process from its establishment in 1997 to the present day?

Ekip Mühendislik Taahhüt İnşaat Kimya Sanayi ve Ticaret A.Ş. was founded in 1997 in Kurtköy for the purpose of manufacturing process equipment used in the paints and chemicals sector. As Ekip Mühendislik A.Ş., whose founding purpose was to establish turnkey plants producing all types of paints and chemical substances, we added hot oil boilers and filling marinas to our product portfolio in the following years. In 2005, we acquired the distributorship of WIPP Armaturen, a German manufacturer of filling valves. Today, Ekip Mühendislik A.Ş. takes pride and honor in being one of Turkey's largest manufacturers in both chemical plants and process equipment manufacturing. Since its establishment, Ekip Mühendislik A.Ş. has prioritized delivering quality products and services and customer satisfaction in the plants it has established both domestically and internationally, and continues production at its facilities in Gebze Balçık, consisting of 4,500 m² of closed area and 10,000 m² of open area. The company has made it a principle never to compromise on engineering fundamentals, to manufacture to international standards, and to conduct its operations in compliance with laws and regulations. Ekip Mühendislik A.Ş., with its engineers, technicians, and skilled workers—each an expert in their field—has for years worked as a team, drawing its strength from the support and trust of its customers, and works with great faith and determination to add more success to its achievements each day. What is your company's quality policy? What features set you apart from other companies?

First and foremost, we attach great importance to the quality of our products and production systems. In this regard, our company, which operates in accordance with the ISO 9001 quality management system, carefully applies every stage from material input quality control to final inspection. Additionally, we have our products inspected and certified by two different authorized inspection and certification firms as needed. Our CE work is also applied meticulously in all its details at this point. Thus, by meeting the requirements of European Standards and Turkish Standards Institute, we produce high-quality products conforming to standards. Furthermore, by providing periodic maintenance and inspection services while our products are in operation, we ensure they function smoothly over the long term. Our administrative staff and production personnel are each experts and experienced in their respective fields. Many of our employees are colleagues we have worked with for many years, and they are well acquainted with our experience and production policies. The fact that our staff is expert, has devoted years to this work, and is experienced allows us to maintain and even advance the experience and quality we have gained over the years. The experience that years have brought and the dozens of plants established and continuing to operate by Ekip Mühendislik Taahhüt İnşaat Kimya Sanayi ve Ticaret A.Ş., along with countless products that have proven its quality, is one of the main reasons we are preferred. Additionally, our professional working pace combined with listening to and understanding our customers, and providing the fastest solutions to their demands and problems, increases customer satisfaction and, consequently, demand. Could we get brief information about your products and product variety? Which sectors do your products serve? What services does your company provide?

Ekip Mühendislik Taahhüt İnşaat Kimya Sanayi ve Ticaret A.Ş. manufactures turnkey paints and chemicals plants and the machines and equipment used in these plants. Turnkey Plants: Plants capable of producing polyester polyol, isocyanate prepolymer and polyurethane systems; alkyd resin plants; PVAc plants; acrylic polymer plants; polyester resin plants; paints plants; varnish plants; thinner plants; antifreeze plants; textile and construction chemicals production plants; DOP, DIDP, DINP, DIOP, DNOP plants; urea formaldehyde plants; mineral oil plants; biodiesel plants; package treatment plants; coloring units; vacuum units Products: Reactors, decanters, condensers, vertical columns, dispersers (column mixers), mixers, blenders, dissolvers, raw material storage tanks, mixing finished product tanks, pilot reactors, tubular heat exchangers, hot oil boilers, bag filters, cooling towers, bunkers, barrel shakers, filling machines, WIPP Armaturen Turkey distributorship. In our two separate factories, we serve our customers with the best and newest technologies. We develop our production capacity by integrating new and technological equipment into our operations. In our turnkey plant projects, we understand our customers' demands one-on-one and design plants tailored to demand and need. In doing so, we design our plants to be suitable for development, improvement, and growth so that our customers will not face problems in the future.

Could we get information about your raw material storage tanks?

Product variety in the chemicals sector drives raw material variety. Consequently, manufacturing companies in the chemicals sector need to store numerous types of raw materials. In terms of capacity, there is usually a need for storage of all kinds of capacities ranging from 1 m³ to 1,000 m³. Different design and manufacturing techniques exist for each capacity range, and we design and manufacture our storage tanks according to the standards required by capacity. Apart from capacity, the type of raw material to be stored is also the most important issue in storage tanks. Some of our customers want to safely store solvent-based or highly corrosive chemicals. For this purpose, we offer our special storage tanks with high safety systems and appropriate designs to our customers' service. We have numerous chemical raw material storage tanks that have been safely used in the market for many years.

Do you continue to provide technical support after delivering your services to customers?

Although the plants we have established and products are under our customer's operation, each plant and product we have built is like a part of us as well. While our products continue to operate, we consistently provide technical support, spare parts, maintenance and repair services in a fast and reliable manner.

How would you assess the sector in the past and present?

In the sector, with developing technologies and especially R&D laboratory work, our customers are now able to produce much higher quality and more diverse products. We, too, keep up with this development by continuously developing new systems and technologies, and provide our customers with growing demands in a healthy and reliable manner in line with developing and changing technology.
