CPT PLA Code Approved for IMMray™ PanCan-d Test
Immunovia AB announced that its subsidiary in the United States, Immunovia, Inc., has recently received approval from the American Medical Association (AMA) for a Current Procedural Terminology (CPT) proprietary Laboratory Analyses (PLA) code for the IMMray™ PanCan-d test. The code will become effective on 1 October 2022.
Immunovia is currently continuing the process with the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) to establish reimbursement for IMMray™ PanCan-d with this PLA code, which will be included in the 2023 CMS Clinical Laboratory Fee Schedule.
Philipp Mathieu, CEO and President of Immunovia AB, said: "We are very pleased that the AMA has approved a unique CPT PLA code for our IMMray™ PanCan-d test. This is an important step in our ongoing efforts to ensure reimbursement for our test."
CPT codes provide physicians and healthcare professionals with a uniform language for coding medical services and procedures. In the United States, CPT is the most widely accepted medical terminology used to report physician and healthcare professional services, including laboratory tests, under public and private health insurance programs.
PLA Codes are appendices to the CPT code set approved by the AMA CPT Editorial Panel. They are alphanumeric CPT codes with relevant identifiers for laboratories or manufacturers that wish to describe their tests more specifically.
