Biolam Gains Momentum
French medical laboratory group Biolam accelerates
Daniel Attias and Gimv (a Belgian European investment firm with experience in private equity and venture capital), continue organic and external growth strategies in Hauts-de-France and Normandy, bringing medical laboratory group Biolam's turnover to over EUR 60 million on a pro forma basis including latest acquisitions. Starting in 2019, Daniel Attias was supported by Gimv in his initial MBI takeover of the Biolam laboratory group in Amiens. Didier Thibaud joined in 2020 to strengthen Biolam's presence in Normandy. Today this pair pursues an accelerated growth strategy. Following four acquisitions and creation of four laboratories in 2020, Biolam completed three new acquisitions in 2021. The group reinforced its position in Normandy with the acquisition of Boyer Laboratories, which contributed approximately EUR 8 million in additional turnover. In Hauts-de-France, Biolam acquired the Maden laboratories in the Valenciennes region and launched growth there by opening two laboratories (Marly and La Madeleine) and acquiring the Tabardel and Viart laboratories in Béthune.Ambitious management teams
In 2022, Biolam plans to continue organic growth in Normandy and Hauts-de-France with the opening of 6 new laboratories, several acquisitions in negotiation phase and significant investments in renewal of industrial equipment. The success of this buy-and-build platform, alongside ambitious management teams, once again demonstrates that the Gimv Health & Care team is expert in consolidation projects across Europe. Gimv Partner Gautier Lefebvre and Gimv Manager Kevin Klein state: "Under the leadership of Daniel Attias and Didier Thibaud, we are very impressed by Biolam's trajectory, growing extremely rapidly while making substantial investments in its tools and teams to deliver high-quality healthcare provision. This entrepreneurial venture is an excellent example of our ability to support managers in rapid external growth strategies. Over the past two years, Gimv's Health and Care team has completed 32 acquisitions across 6 development platforms." Biolam Group President Daniel Attias says, "We have already exceeded the targets we set initially with the Gimv team, a sign of highly effective collaboration. We are entering 2022 with ambitious targets in a healthy environment where our willingness to invest, our agility and the full commitment of our teams are more necessary than ever."
