Bilfen High School Students Move from Chemistry to Horticulture
Bilfen High School Students: From Chemistry to Horticulture
Students from Bursa Bilfen High Schools participated for the first time in the "GençBizz" competition, organized annually by the Young Success Foundation, with the company they established called VİTAPLANT.
The students entered the top 15 among 650 companies established in Turkey and secured their place in the European finals to be held in Turkey this year.
Also this year, students studying at Bilfen İzmir High Schools participated in the competition with their company BİL-FİX, while students from Bilfen Kayseri, İstanbul and Ankara high schools obtained the opportunity to see the final stage of the competition with their jointly established company BIOPSYS.
The Vitaplant company, which adopts Horticulture that guides the proper and practical cultivation of agricultural and potted plants, produced agar agar capsules that provide the mineral support needed by plants.
The Vitaplant company, established by students Ege Can Alparslan, Mehmet Kaan Çolak, Ali Güngör, Sinem Öz, Elifsu Yılmaz, Nehir Yılmaz and Elif Arı from Bilfen Bursa Anatolian and Science High Schools, was selected among the 15 most successful companies out of 650.
The Vitaplant company produced gel capsules by combining agar agar powder with supplemental plant nutrients with the aim of contributing to the "Horticulture" awareness that is becoming widespread in the world and in our country for a sustainable future.
With this product, the quality and nutritional values of small-scale agricultural, potted and ornamental plants increase, while they develop resistance to pests and diseases, grow more healthily, and plant yield also increases as a result.
More Productive Plants Through the "Individualization" Approach
In home and agricultural plants, high yields are generally not achieved because synthetic or organic fertilizer components do not take an "individualized" approach to plants. Through this method used by Vitaplant, common plant species have been researched and specific supplemental nutrients have been produced. For example, "The mineral values required for an orchid plant differ from the mineral values required for a gardenia plant. Fertilizers used for these plants have a broad spectrum. This situation can lead to unwanted symptoms and developmental disorders in plants." Vitaplant identified this gap in the market and through its method produced affordable, easily accessible nutrients specific to certain plant groups. Additionally, since the supplemental nutrient capsules it uses contain agar agar without preservatives and additives, they provide natural support to plant development. The Vitaplant company produces natural, sustainable and market-friendly products through its ideas and methods. It is up to us to expand the use of these products and leave a clean world for future generations.Advertisement
