Akkim Provides Clean Water Access to More Than 50 Million People

Clean Water Reaches Over 50 Million People with Akkim Akkim Kimya General Manager Onur Kipri highlighted that through water chemicals and filters produced based on making water resources usable for sustainable development, over 50 million people have gained access to clean water. Rainfall below seasonal averages and rapid declines in dam water levels have put the drought threat back on the agenda. Akkim Kimya General Manager Onur Kipri, who stresses that making water resources usable and their reuse are essential for sustainable development, pointed out that Water Solutions, one of Akkim's operational areas, has enabled over 50 million people worldwide to access clean water through its water chemicals and filters. Underlining that environmentally sensitive production should be one of priorities to protect limited resources, Kipri said: "With this approach in mind, through our Ultrafiltration Membrane Module investment that we initiated, we now hold an important position in the advanced water treatment technology sector. With this technology, we filter over 1 billion cubic meters of water annually, clarify it, remove bacteria and viruses, and make unusable water resources usable. Similarly, we also enable water of insufficient quality for industrial use to become suitable for production."  

'Producing water from the sea where water is scarce'

  Underlining Akkim's commitment to sustainability in production, Onur Kipri noted that through Water Solutions, which came to life as a result of serious research and development, their goal is to spread this awareness to many parts of the world. Sharing that they work in cooperation with many sectors and municipalities through water solutions, Kipri said: "Our first priority is to use as little water as possible. With this approach, while we bring treatment facilities operating with our produced chemicals to the highest efficiency levels, we achieve water recovery through our produced membranes. We can make serious contributions to producing water from the sea in water-scarce areas, recovering domestic wastewater for reuse in irrigation, making dirty surface water usable, recovering wastewater such as textile dyeing and reducing water consumption."

'We will add new products in 2023'

Saying they will include new environmentally friendly products in their Water Solutions portfolio in 2023, Onur Kipri noted that they will continue to contribute to sustainability efforts both in Turkey and worldwide. Stating that they currently export to many countries in the United Kingdom, Europe, Middle East, North Africa, Balkans and Asia, Onur Kipri said: "As technology develops, developing technologies compatible with nature and environmentally friendly solutions remains our priority. We also believe in the importance of working in cooperation with institutions to truly make a difference."
