Siltech Expands Personal Care Product Range Siltech, a company specializing in the development, manufacture and marketing of organo-functional silicone compounds and related specialties for custom applications, has introduced new products that will be part of the Sustain product series. Silwax® Sustain 5116 is an advanced sustainable liquid alkyl dimethicone that delivers superior spreadability and softness in personal care. Silsurf® Sustain 5116 differs from conventional Cetyl Dimethicones because its alkyl component is derived from bio-based plant sources rather than petroleum raw materials, providing formulators with both functionality and improved sustainability. The product contains more than 82% bio-based carbon content as measured in accordance with ASTM D6866. Its International Nomenclature of Cosmetic Ingredients (INCI) designation is Cetyl Dimethicone. Silube® Sustain 4316 is an improved sustainability alkyl functional silicone polyether emulsifier that provides superior benefits as a Water-in-Oil (invert) emulsifier. Silube® Sustain 4316 serves as a more sustainable version of the standard Silube® T308-16-CG. Compared to the standard or "non-sustainable" version, the polyether and alkyl components of Silube® Sustain 4316 are derived from bio-based plant sources rather than petroleum-based raw materials. The product contains over 73% bio-based carbon content as measured in accordance with ASTM D6866. Its International Nomenclature of Cosmetic Ingredients (INCI) designation is Cetyl PEG/PPG-10/1 Dimethicone. Siltech has also launched Siltech® PTM, a specialty phenyl-modified liquid silicone that harmonizes cosmetic components while delivering spreadability, conditioning and enhanced sensory properties across various applications. Its natural high refractive index (1.46) provides superior gloss in hair care and luminosity in color cosmetics. The International Nomenclature of Cosmetic Ingredients designation is Phenyl Trimethicone. Source
