L’Oréal continues to develop its innovations

L'Oréal continues to develop innovations positioned under "Beauty for All" by drawing strength from techno-beauty. The techno-beauty giant introduced its generative artificial intelligence-powered personal beauty assistant, an augmented creative content generation platform, and a revolutionary hair dryer developed with infrared light technology at the Viva Technology Fair. L'Oréal also launched its device that enables micro-surface renewal for advanced skincare and the introduction of Skin Technology by L'Oréal, which mimics human skin and can be used in scientific research and product testing. L'Oréal, pioneering the "Techno-Beauty" vision by evolving from a company dedicated solely to beauty into a technology company dedicated solely to beauty, is expanding its innovative experience portfolio powered by technology and innovation. The techno-beauty giant most recently presented its technological innovations for skin and hair at the Viva Technology Fair in Paris. L'Oréal brought together with consumers its beauty content laboratory, new personal beauty assistant technology, a hair dryer utilizing infrared light technology, and a new-generation skincare device. It also launched Skin Technology by L'Oréal, an artificial skin technology mimicking human skin for use in scientific research and product testing. Barbara Lavernos, Vice President in charge of Research, Innovation and Technology at L'Oréal Group, said: "At VivaTech, alongside other groundbreaking innovations, we also introduced Skin Technology by L'Oréal. We are excited about our new bio-based skin technology, which features characteristics with greater similarity to real human skin and will open exciting opportunities for researchers in the cosmetics and healthcare sectors."
Closely mimics human skin
Skin Technology by L'Oréal, created through the combination of biology, mechanics and electronics, can more closely mimic skin conditions such as eczema and acne, as well as situations that human skin may face such as tanning and wounds. L'Oréal is currently working with new ventures and renowned institutes worldwide to further develop this technology. L'Oréal also introduced for the first time CREAITECH, a generative artificial intelligence-based beauty content laboratory that serves as a laboratory for advanced technologies that will take creative content generation to the next level. As a safe space for GenAI experiments, CREAITECH enables L'Oréal to scale its process of creating brand-aligned and localized content across 37 beauty brands. L'Oréal Group also announced a collaboration with Meta and leading content creators, and supports increasing technologies that push the boundaries of creativity.
Launched the 'New Beauty Codes Creator Programme'
Asmita Dubey, Director of Digital and Marketing at L'Oréal Group, said that technology reaches its most remarkable form thanks to human creativity and that this provides both people and brands with a powerful tool for self-expression, continuing: "Our CREAITECH GenAI Beauty Content Laboratory is proof of what human hands and generative artificial intelligence tools can accomplish together. With our new Brand-Specific Models, we can train GenAI to recognize our brands' unique visual codes and launch innovative beauty campaigns faster. More importantly, we can do this without compromising our responsible AI principles, which also include not using photorealistic images of faces, bodies, hair and skin created on the AI side to support or enhance product benefits in our external communications." Noting that together with Meta they have launched the "New Beauty Codes Content Creator Programme" to empower next-generation three-dimensional, augmented reality and artificial intelligence-based content creators and explore new creative boundaries in beauty; Dubey stated: "Our L'Oréal Paris, Lancôme and La Roche-Posay brands are pioneering these areas by collaborating with a team of 30 creators specialized in utilizing the latest technology tools and techniques. Our aim is to unleash technological creativity in the emerging creator economy."
Beauty technology for consumers
Kiehl's Derma-Reader analyzes skin using clinical imaging technology, measuring more than 11 skin characteristics both on the skin surface and beneath it. Based on measurement results, recommendations are provided for products to add to a skincare routine as well as lifestyle tips. Lancôme RENERGIE NANO SURFACE REFINER | 400 BOOSTER is a beauty device specially developed to increase penetration of cosmetic products into the skin and product performance at the skin's stratum corneum layer. This device is powered by breakthrough patented nanochip technology consisting of more than 400 ultra-precise nano tips to obtain clinically tested results at home. L'Oréal Paris Beauty Genius stands out as an artificial intelligence-powered, all-in-one personal beauty assistant that enables consumers to learn everything related to beauty simply and easily. Beauty Genius thereby provides users with personalized diagnoses and recommendations. L'Oréal Professionnel AirLight Pro delivers a revolutionary hair drying experience for both hair and the environment. Designed for both beauty professionals and consumers, AirLight Pro combines infrared light with high-speed air to efficiently dry water on the hair surface, helps provide better hair quality and enables each individual to achieve smooth, shiny hair. L'Oréal Professionnel My Hair [iD] Hair Reader is a unique hair color analysis device that measures many criteria including color, gray percentage, hair fiber diameter and density, using ultra-precise optics. It provides users with correct, personalized hair color every time.
Elevated testing standards in the sector
Skin Technology by L'Oréal has led the reconstruction of human skin for biological and dermatological research with state-of-the-art test models for over 40 years. Skin Technology by L'Oréal combines the power of biology, mechanics and electronics to create comprehensive test models that mimic the complexity of human skin, elevating testing standards in the cosmetics industry while enabling players in the healthcare and research sectors and start-ups. L'Oréal CREAITECH GenAI Beauty Content Laboratory used the WPP NVidia engine and many other different models over the past eight months. For this technology, more than 20 generative artificial intelligence technologies were utilized while more than 1,000 beauty-related visuals were created and tested. For the tested technology, dozens of workshop sessions were also conducted with the brands' creative teams. In addition, CREAITECH has pioneered the development of brand-specific models trained with the core codes of L'Oréal brands to produce brand-appropriate content. La Roche-Posay and Kérastase were the first brands to use this specialized service in their content creation processes. L'Oréal Group and Meta introduced the "New Beauty Codes Content Creator Programme" to empower next-generation three-dimensional, augmented reality and artificial intelligence content creators and explore new creative boundaries in beauty. This programme aims to support the content creator economy by defining new codes of beauty. L'Oréal Paris, Lancôme and La Roche-Posay play an important role in the development of this new technology through collaborations conducted with a team of 30 content creators specialized in utilizing their brands' latest technology tools and techniques.
Leading practices in digital sustainability
As the world's fourth largest advertiser, L'Oréal is leading the measurement of CO2 emissions produced by the sector's digital activities and the reduction of their environmental impacts. L'Oréal developed partnerships for sustainability in the digital area with IMPACT+, a French start-up operating in 47 countries that enables the measurement of digital media carbon footprint; ADGREEN, a green technology partner that enables the measurement of core carbon footprint in content production filming; and FRUGGR, a French venture that enables the measurement of websites' carbon footprint.
