L'Oréal Acquires Aēsop

Beauty-tech giant L'Oréal and Natura&Co sign agreement to acquire Australian luxury brand Aēsop. Under the agreement, L'Oréal has added another world-renowned beauty brand to its portfolio. Aēsop's enterprise value stands at USD 2.525 billion. Founded in 1987, Aēsop gained worldwide recognition through its skin, hair and body care products. With its distinctive amber packaging, plant-based ingredients, sustainable vegan formulas and personalised service, Aēsop has become a global brand serving the luxury retail, beauty and hospitality sectors across the world.

2022 revenue of USD 537 million

Aēsop currently operates across approximately 400 sales points in the Americas, Europe, Australia, New Zealand and Asia. The brand entered China with the opening of its first store in 2022. Aēsop generated revenue of USD 537 million in 2022. Nicolas Hieronimus, CEO of L'Oréal Group, made the following remarks on the matter: "I am thrilled to welcome the Aēsop brand and team to the L'Oréal family. Aēsop exemplifies visionary beauty; products crafted with great care and extraordinary attention to detail that represent a perfect blend of urban life, pleasure and luxury. L'Oréal will help unlock Aēsop's growth potential, particularly in China and travel retail, as it addresses all emerging consumer trends of today."
Cyril Chapuy, President of L'Oréal Luxe, also commented on the acquisition:
