The sectoral trade delegation, organized by İKMİB to increase exports in the cosmetics and cleaning products sector, took place in Bogota, Colombia between 18-22 September with the participation of Murat Ertekin, Head of the Department of the Directorate General of Exports of the Ministry of Commerce, Uğur Adıyaman, Member of the İKMİB Board of Directors, and 20 Turkish companies operating in the cosmetics and cleaning products sector. At the event, Ambassador of the Republic of Turkey to Bogota Beste Pehlivan Sun and Trade Advisor of the Republic of Turkey to Bogota Muhammet Hartavi met with participating companies.
A total of 471 one-on-one business meetings conducted
During the three-day event attended by more than 70 Turkish and Latin American companies combined, a total of 471 one-on-one business meetings were held where new business cooperation opportunities were discussed. In the one-on-one business meetings, buyers and suppliers from 13 Latin American countries—Colombia, Mexico, Peru, Costa Rica, Bolivia, Guatemala, Panama, Chile, Uruguay, Ecuador, Venezuela, Paraguay and the Dominican Republic—met with Turkish companies.
In an assessment of the matter, İKMİB Board of Directors Chairman Adil Pelister stated:
"Latin American countries are among our target countries both in general chemicals and in our cosmetics and cleaning products sector. Our general chemical exports to the Latin American region, which comprises 19 countries, increased 55 percent in the first eight months of this year compared to the same period last year, reaching USD 596.6 million. Exports from our essential oils, cosmetics and soap subsector increased more than 50 percent in the first eight months of this year, reaching USD 29.7 million. We believe that through new connections to be established by our companies conducting one-on-one meetings with buyers as part of our delegation organization, the market share of the sector will increase. We are pleased to receive feedback from our companies that the organization was successful and productive. As İKMİB, we will continue to organize such events more frequently and stand by our exporters."   Uğur Adıyaman, Member of the İKMİB Board of Directors, stated, "At our trade delegation held in Bogota, the capital of Colombia, we met with buyers and suppliers from both Colombia and other Latin American countries in an intensive program. Thanks to this intensive program, we were able to examine current market conditions and had the opportunity to conduct frequent one-on-one business meetings. Together with our trade delegation in Colombia in 2019 before Covid, conducted within the scope of the Project for the Development of International Competitiveness, both our participating companies and our foreign buyer guests were quite satisfied with this productive delegation."
