Chinese Rhubarb Root Extract ADIMIN RG®

Use of Chinese Rhubarb Root Extract ADIMIN RG® in Cosmetic Products* ADIMIN RG® is a skin active composed of hydrolyzed glycosaminoglycans and Chinese rhubarb (Rheum Palmatum) root extract. It is ideal for use in body care and leg care creams targeting localized adipose tissue. As a water-based skin active, use at 2-5% is recommended. Adipose tissue appears as a storage form of excess energy. It is primarily composed of triglyceride storage. This tissue is classified as connective tissue. Fats are accumulated by cells called adipose or adipocytes and stored in small clusters. Two types of adipose tissue exist. The brown type is rich in blood vessels and located in the deep dermis. White adipose tissue is less rich in blood vessels. They form from childhood, and as age advances, their number does not increase but their volume increases over time. This type of tissue forms in subcutaneous tissue or in spaces such as the abdomen. This tissue can expand in two different ways: through hypertrophy, which is an increase in cell size, or through hyperplasia, an increase in cell number. Hyperplasia determines adipogenesis, the fat storage capacity of adipose tissue, and the amount of fat mass in middle age. Among factors affecting localized adipose tissue, gender is foremost. Sex hormones significantly affect the areas where fat is stored. The second factor affecting localized adipose tissue is age. Formation of this type of tissue is more frequently observed in individuals 40 years of age and older. Genetic factors and lifestyle also play a role in this tissue formation. ADAMIN RG® prevents the synthesis of new triglycerides in adipose tissue during fat formation. It activates the breakdown of triglycerides stored in adipose tissue and works to prevent the formation of mature adipose tissue from pre-adipose tissue. ADAMIN RG® is a phyto-complex of Chinese rhubarb extract that is quite rich in polyphenol types. Measurement Test of ADAMIN RG®'s Fat-Reducing Activity (In Vitro) [caption id="attachment_143707" align="aligncenter"] Chart 1. Fat droplet formation at 0.25 mg/ml ADAMIN RG® is minimal compared to placebo.[/caption] Measurement Test of ADAMIN RG®'s Fat-Reducing Activity (In Vivo) This clinical study was conducted over 56 days on 40 female volunteers aged 25-65. Volunteers were selected from among those with fat masses and particularly those with fat deposits in the hip area. Subcutaneous fat thickness was measured using BodyMetrix™ BX200 (mm). Body scanning was performed with this device and regional cross-sectional images were obtained. Fat mass was measured using the INBODY 230 device and through segmental body mass analysis. In the clinical study, a cosmetic product containing 2% ADAMIN RG® was applied twice daily to the hip and inner hip area. [caption id="attachment_143709" align="aligncenter"] Chart 2.
